What are the symptoms of viral conjunctivitis

Speaking of viral conjunctivitis, this disease is what we often call pink eye. It is a common eye disease in life. There are many causes of this disease in life. When symptoms appear, timely treatment is necessary because this disease is extremely contagious. If one person gets sick, it is likely to cause the whole family to get sick. Generally, when the eyes are infected, they will feel uncomfortable for a very short time.

Symptoms of viral conjunctivitis include:

1. Early symptoms

In the early stages of the disease, patients will feel their eyes getting hot and burning, and be afraid of light exposure. It feels like sand is entering their eyes and it is extremely painful. Then their eyelids will become red and swollen, and they will become afraid of light and tearful. When they wake up in the morning, they will find that their eyelids are often stuck with secretions and difficult to open. These are relatively mild symptoms in the early stages. Patients should seek timely treatment when they discover abnormal symptoms to avoid serious deterioration of the disease.

2. Mid-term symptoms

Some patients may also have small bleeding spots or blood spots on the conjunctiva, forming a grayish-white pseudomembrane on the surface of the conjunctiva. Patients may also have severe systemic symptoms such as headache, fever, fatigue, and preauricular lymph node enlargement. Patients need to pay attention to this and improve it in time, as it means that the patient's condition is rapidly deteriorating.

3. Late symptoms

Patients will experience symptoms of follicular and subconjunctival hemorrhage, and generally will also form flat scars. A few days after the onset of the disease, diffuse macular epithelial lesions may appear on the cornea, and the disease will seriously deteriorate as it progresses. The effect of late-stage treatment of this disease is not very good, so patients need to pay attention to changes in their own symptoms to avoid missing the best time for treatment.
