Is the whitening of oral mucosa serious?

There are many reasons for the whitening of the oral mucosa, such as the lack of trace elements and minerals in the body. In addition, regular inflammation or some blood diseases may also cause the whitening of the oral mucosa. In addition, some bad living habits in daily life are also the cause of such symptoms. Usually, a preference for smoking and drinking will cause severe irritation in the oral cavity. In addition, Candida infection can also easily cause such symptoms.

1. Physical and chemical stimulation factors such as smoking

Epidemiological surveys show that the incidence of leukoplakia is positively correlated with the length of smoking history and the amount of smoking. If the number of cigarettes smoked per day*the number of years of smoking is > 400 cigarettes-years, the risk of leukoplakia increases. In addition, the incidence of vitiligo is also different due to different types of cigarette products, and the order from high to low is: dry tobacco > paper cigarette > water pipe; domestic scholars have prepared animal models of vitiligo by using cigarette smoke stimulation or directly applying tobacco extract to the mucous membrane, confirming that smoking is closely related to the incidence of vitiligo.

Local physical and chemical stimulation such as drinking strong alcohol, eating hot or spicy food, and chewing betel nut are also related to the occurrence of vitiligo.

2. Candida infection

Epidemiological surveys show that the detection rate of Candida albicans in patients with oral leukoplakia is about 34%. In addition to Candida albicans, Candida asteroids and Candida tropicalis may also be closely related to the occurrence of leukoplakia. At the same time, it is certain that white spots accompanied by Candida albicans infection - "leukoplakia" are prone to malignant transformation.

3. Systemic factors

Including trace elements (including manganese Mn, strontium Sr, calcium Ca), microcirculation changes, susceptible genetic quality, fat-soluble vitamin deficiency (vitamin A deficiency causes hyperkeratinization of mucosal epithelium), etc.
