How to effectively treat lung infection?

Lung infection is a disease that requires timely and correct treatment. The reason why some people get lung infection is that long-term colds are not effectively treated and become more serious. To treat lung infection, attention should be paid to the correct use of antibiotics.

1. Strengthen supportive therapy and eliminate primary infection foci as soon as possible.

2. Antibiotic treatment: Early, combined and long-term treatment should be used, with penicillin G or vancomycin. For penicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, oxacillin, cephalosporins, or combined with new-generation quinolone antibiotics can be used. Antibiotics should be used for at least 4 weeks.

3. Most Staphylococcus aureus produce penicillinase, and resistance to methicillin is increasing. It is generally recommended to use a penicillinase-resistant penicillin (such as oxacillin or nafcillin 2g, intravenous injection, once every 4 to 6 hours. Another major drug is cephalosporin: commonly used are ceftriaxone or cefmandol 2g, intravenous injection, once every 4 to 6 hours, cefazolin 0.5-1.0g, intravenous injection, once every 8 hours, or cefuroxime 750mg, intravenous injection, once every 6 to 8 hours. The third generation cephalosporins are not as effective as the first or second generation preparations. Lincomycin 600mg intravenous injection, once every 6 to 8 hours is effective against 90% to 95% of strains.

4. It is generally believed that strains resistant to methicillin are resistant to all β-lactam antibiotics. In many hospitals, such strains account for 30% to 40% of hospital-acquired Staphylococci but only 5% of community-acquired infections. If methicillin resistance is suspected or confirmed by in vitro susceptibility testing, vancomycin is generally used. The usual dose is 1 g intravenously once every 12 hours; the dosage can be adjusted appropriately in case of renal failure.
