How is molluscum contagiosum treated?

Molluscum contagiosum is an autoinoculated viral skin disease caused by the molluscum contagiosum virus, which is common in children and young adults. In the acute phase, the disease often presents as multiple, hemispherical papules with an umbilical center. It is caused by molluscum contagiosum virus infection, so patients should not share toiletries with others or take a bath in public baths. The disease can also be spread through sexual activity.

Treatment of molluscum contagiosum

1. Phthalidine has antiviral effects. For the first onset of warts, it can be applied to the surface of the warts, 2-3 times a day for 2 weeks.

2. Because molluscum bodies are rich in viruses, the key to treatment is to remove the warts and destroy the cysts. When the number of skin lesions is small, under sterile conditions after disinfection, break the top of the wart, clamp the wart with sterile tweezers or hemostatic forceps and pull it out, then drip 2-2.5% iodine tincture into the ruptured cyst and apply pressure to stop the bleeding. Therefore, this method is painful and difficult for children to accept. Before clinical operation, 5% ENNA can generally be applied to the surface of the wart, and then removed after 20 minutes. During the operation, the child's emotions should be soothed and his attention distracted. The movements during operation should be light, fast and accurate.

3. If there are too many skin lesions or secondary infection and redness, the above treatment method is inconvenient. Oral acyclovir and antibiotics can be used for treatment.

4. Liquid nitrogen freezing method. Use a freezer to spray directly on the surface of the wart and thaw several times. Generally, the warts will fall off on their own after 1 week.

Precautions

1. When living in a group, attention should be paid to disinfecting clothing. Sick children in kindergartens should be isolated and the use of public clothing, such as towels and clothes, is prohibited.
