What causes a red, swollen and itchy nose?

A red, swollen and itchy nose is sometimes caused by pollen allergies. Many people in life may be affected by allergies. Acute rhinitis, nasal eczema, and vestibulitis can also show these symptoms of redness, swelling and itching.

1. Hay fever. Also known as seasonal allergic rhinitis, it is caused by allergies to pollen and mold.

2. Acute rhinitis. This is because when the nasal mucosa is infected by viruses and bacteria, blood vessels constrict, local ischemia occurs, and secretions decrease, which stimulates the sensation of the mucosal surface.

3. Perennial allergic rhinitis. Nasal itching is one of the important symptoms of the disease, accompanied by nasal congestion, nasal discharge, sneezing, etc. The nasal itching is milder than the pollen symptoms.

4. In addition to the three situations described above, nasal eczema and nasal vestibulitis can also cause nasal itching, accompanied by skin lesions.

5. The best way is to gently press the area with your ring finger for a few seconds and then release it when your nose itches. If the itching does not subside, press the area with your ring finger for a few seconds and then release it. Doing this several times can greatly relieve the severe symptoms and intervals of nasal itching.

6. Blow your nose gently, very gently. It is best to avoid sneezing due to itchy nose. But this doesn't happen every time. Sometimes it will still cause sneezing, but the interval between them will be greatly prolonged.

7. Every time you wash your face, clean your nasal cavity as well. Cup a handful of water with your hands, close your mouth slightly, inhale the water through your nose, and breathe out most of the air through your mouth at the same time. Inhale the water into a certain part of the nasal cavity, stop breathing, including breathing through the mouth, then hold your breath, let the water flow out of the nasal cavity naturally, and try again.
