Why does the ear hurt behind the base of the ear?

Our ears are our way of listening to the outside world. If there is any discomfort in our ears, we should deal with it in time and do not delay, which may affect our hearing. If you experience pain behind the ear, you should consider ear diseases, such as otitis media, otitis externa, etc.

1. Due to the long-term tension and fatigue of neural activity, or strong mental stimulation causing brain functional disorder, the threshold of pain tolerance is lowered and the head muscles are tense. Most of the pains are distending, dull and stabbing, which will be aggravated by excessive fatigue, overwork, lack of sleep and bad mood, accompanied by dizziness, blurred vision, insomnia, inattention and palpitations.

2. Pain behind the ear can also be a clinical syndrome caused by head vasospasm, vasoconstriction dysfunction, cerebral cortex dysfunction, or temporary changes in certain body fluid substances. This syndrome is also called vascular headache, which is mainly characterized by paroxysmal throbbing pain, distension or drilling pain in one or both temporal areas, and may be accompanied by hallucinations, photophobia, hemianopsia, nausea and vomiting and other symptoms of vascular autonomic dysfunction. This shows that vasoconstriction dysfunction is also one of the causes of pain behind the ears.

3. If it is simple scalp pain, it may also be caused by external stimulation, inflammation, scalp disease, etc. Therefore, do not take any medication without thorough examination. It is best to go to a professional hospital for a thorough examination and listen to the doctor's advice.

4. Physical factors: Various causes that can cause inflammation and injury inside and outside the skull; vascular traction, stretching, displacement, and expansion due to compression by tumors; irritation of the meninges; muscle contraction; direct stimulation of the sensory nerves that control the head and face, etc., can all cause neuralgia.

5. There is also the possibility of trauma: this is more obvious and intuitive. Patients often suffer injuries to the scalp surface due to external factors, such as chemicals, knife wounds, burns, poisoning, etc. Redness and swelling are the main symptoms.
