How to treat atrophic gastritis?

Atrophic gastritis is also called chronic atrophic gastritis. The cause of this disease is the reflux of bile in the body, which leads to damage of the gastric mucosa. It may be due to long-term use of certain strong medicinal drugs, which cause great damage to the stomach and cause atrophic gastritis. It may also be caused by frequent drinking of coffee, alcoholism, etc. Atrophic gastritis is mainly manifested as anemia, weight loss, fatigue and weakness. How should we treat this disease?

1. For patients with gastritis and peptic ulcers, Helicobacter pylori is one of the main culprits. As long as you have been tested for Helicobacter pylori and confirmed that you have been affected by it, you should start a treatment plan to cure Helicobacter pylori. There is currently no single drug that can eradicate this bacteria. Triple therapy is adopted clinically. The most effective combination is a PPI plus two antibiotics. PPI is a proton pump inhibitor. Commonly used ones are omeprazole and pantoprazole. For example, the ingredient of Jin Ao Kang is omeprazole. The antibiotic recommendation is to choose two from clarithromycin, metronidazole, and amoxicillin.

2. In terms of clinical manifestations, patients with atrophic gastritis do not have some specific symptoms like patients with other diseases, but will have several of the various gastrointestinal symptoms. Therefore, when using medication for treatment, you must pay attention to the symptoms and never use it indiscriminately.

3. No matter what kind of stomach disease you have, protecting the gastric mucosa is one of the measures that must be taken. Especially for patients with atrophic gastritis whose gastric mucosa has atrophied, they should be more careful not to smoke or drink, and not to eat spicy, fried, or indigestible foods. They should also quit carbonated drinks, ice cream, coffee, strong tea and other foods that damage the stomach.
