What to do if otitis media causes perforated eardrum and hearing loss

A perforated eardrum has a significant impact on hearing, and when otitis media causes hearing loss due to perforated eardrum, many people don’t know what to do. In this case, in addition to routine treatment, attention should also be paid to diet, and patients should also pay attention to care to avoid infection caused by water entering the ears.

1. Eat more foods that nourish the ears, such as spinach, pig blood, animal offal, etc. Eating more can activate the microcirculation in the ears to improve the disease resistance of the ear tissue, such as green vegetables, apples, radishes, kiwis, etc. Also avoid getting water in your ears, as this can lead to reinfection. You should also participate in more physical exercise to improve your body's resistance and immunity.

2. In the acute phase, vitamin AD should be taken orally and symptomatic treatment should be given. Choose drugs such as sulfonamide and antibiotics for treatment. There is often a course of worsening general symptoms before tympanic membrane perforation. Apply 2% procaine 2ml~5% phenol glycerin to prevent drying, 3 times a day, 3~4 drops each time; severe ear pain, bulging tympanic membrane or small perforation, poor drainage, and poor pus discharge can cause snoring. Considering tympanic membrane perforation, the time for surgery is relatively short.

3. Otitis media causes perforation of the eardrum. In this case, Chinese medicine powder can be sprayed on the surface of the eardrum once a day until the perforation is healed. During this period, it can be cleaned with hydrogen peroxide once every two days. As long as the external auditory canal and the middle ear are kept dry, such a traumatic perforation of the eardrum can heal itself. If necessary, the eardrum can be repaired by surgery. However, no matter what, general anti-inflammatory treatment is necessary. Generally, spicy and irritating foods should be avoided and rest should be taken. Hearing loss is generally related to eardrum damage, and hearing can be restored after treatment.
