What should I do if I have a lump on my neck? What disease causes it?

If we have some lumps on our body for no apparent reason, but they are not painful or itchy, we should pay attention to it. Lumps on the neck are mostly caused by sebaceous cysts, but if they persist for a long time, we should check them out in time. Lumps that appear in other parts of the body should also be checked and treated in time.

1. Neck lumps

Lumps often appear on the neck, but don’t worry too much. They are mostly caused by sebaceous cysts and will not cause cancer! But a precursor to leukemia or Hodgkin's lymphoma is also a lump on the neck, often on one side of the neck that is relatively hard. If the lump near the Adam's apple continues to grow larger for more than 3-4 weeks, you should get your thyroid checked promptly.

2. Breast lumps

90% of breast lumps are benign, but if there are obvious changes in the shape or size of the breast, or wrinkles appear around the nipple, or the areola becomes sunken or darkened, or there is unilateral pain, then you should be aware that these are symptoms of breast cancer and seek medical treatment promptly.

3. Anal mass

The lump is most likely caused by hemorrhoids, but it may also be caused by colon cancer. If you still have symptoms such as constipation or diarrhea, weight loss, feeling of intestinal emptying, etc., you should check your anorectal system in time.

4. Oral lumps

If you have lumps in your mouth, be careful that it may be oral leukoplakia. Oral leukoplakia does not hurt or itch, but the center of the white spot will turn red or white. Be aware that it is a precursor to oral cancer!

5. Shoulder Lump

Lumps on the shoulders are mostly lipomas, which are benign lumps. However, the downside is that it can compress nerves and cause pain, so it is best to have surgery to remove it.

6. Wrist Lump

Lumps may also appear on the wrist. The most common one is a ganglion cyst, which can be treated by a doctor and can heal quickly. But if the lump gets bigger, it could be a sarcoma, but sarcoma is relatively rare.

7. Lumps in the arms and groin

The lump on the arm is soft and elastic, and it hurts when touched. There are two possible diseases, breast cancer and Hodgkin's lymphoma. Painless lumps in the groin, night sweats, fever and fatigue are also symptoms of Hodgkin's lymphoma.

8. Lumps on the legs

If a lump appears on your leg, is itchy and painful, and does not heal for a long time, you should be alert to the possibility of skin cancer.
