Which is less harmful, enema or infusion

When babies are young, parents will rush to the hospital to treat them if they are sick. Some children start crying when they see a needle, and the nurses have no way to give the babies an infusion, which will delay treatment. In recent years, some medical institutions have chosen enema to treat some diseases for babies, which can avoid the situation of babies crying. So which is less harmful, enema or infusion?

1. Intravenous infusion is the process of allowing liquid to enter the body's blood circulation through peripheral veins, allowing the drug to reach the patient through blood circulation.

2. Enema: The purpose is to stimulate the rectum, induce the body's defecation reaction, and promote the discharge of intestinal contents.

3. Enema is a good treatment method for patients with chronic enteritis. However, since long-term enema can cause certain damage to the patient's intestinal mucosa, you can also choose to cooperate with other treatment methods to shorten the enema treatment course.

Enteritis infusion can replenish dehydration caused by diarrhea. If diarrhea is not frequent and there is no dehydration, intravenous infusion is not necessary. If you experience night sweats or spontaneous sweating, this may be a sign of dehydration. In this case, it is better to receive an IV drip as soon as possible.

Enteritis requires symptomatic treatment. Infusion can replenish fluids and correct electrolyte and acidosis. For those who are mildly dehydrated and do not vomit severely, oral rehydration can be given. The WHO-recommended oral rehydration formula is sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate, potassium chloride, glucose or sucrose, and water. For patients with severe dehydration or vomiting, normal saline, isotonic sodium bicarbonate and potassium chloride solutions, and glucose can be given intravenously.

For patients with chronic enteritis, the main symptom is habitual abdominal pain, and in severe cases, there will be blood in the stool, loss of appetite, nausea and retching. For such patients, they must receive treatment as soon as possible to avoid serious illness.

Therefore, it is impossible to determine whether infusion or enema is better for enteritis. It depends on the specific condition. When treating, pay attention to choosing a regular hospital, eat more fruits and vegetables, adhere to the principle of small meals, do not eat too greasy food, and do not overeat.
