What does stiff neck mean?

Stiff neck is the neck pain caused by improper posture when we sleep. It is a common disease, so the most important thing is to pay attention to the resting and sleeping posture, and also pay attention to the choice of pillow, which should not be too high or too low.

1. Stiff neck (neck pain caused by an uncomfortable pillow or posture while sleeping): Heat the leek juice and rub it on the neck, seven or eight times a day. It can be cured in 2-3 days. Stiff neck, also known as "lost neck", is not called branded neck. It is a common disease that occurs in young and middle-aged people, and is more common in winter and spring. The common course of stiff neck is that there are no symptoms before falling asleep, but after waking up in the morning, you feel obvious soreness in the neck and back and limited neck movement. This shows that the disease originates after sleep and is closely related to the pillow and sleeping posture.

2. Muscle sprain. For example, due to poor sleeping posture at night, the head and neck are in an over-deflected position for a long time; or due to an inappropriate pillow during sleep, which is too high, too low or too hard, causing the head and neck to be in a state of hyperextension or hyperflexion, all of which can cause tension in the muscles on one side of the neck and twist the facet joints of the cervical vertebra. Static injury can occur over a long period of time, making the muscles and tendons of the injured area stiff and disharmony, qi and blood circulation poor, local pain and discomfort, and obvious limitation of movement.

3. Being exposed to wind and cold, such as catching a cold while sleeping or seeking coolness in the hot summer, can cause stagnation of Qi and blood in the neck and back, blockage of tendons and meridians, resulting in stiffness and pain and difficulty in movement.
