Can teeth cleaning effectively remove dental plaque?

If you do not pay attention to the cleanliness of your teeth, plaque will form on your teeth over time, making your teeth uglier. Therefore, we need to use some methods to remove the plaque, which can be solved by teeth washing. You also need to master some techniques when brushing your teeth. Using an electric toothbrush is also very effective.

1. Brush off dental plaque

Use stains to identify the location of plaque. Plaque is barely visible to the naked eye, so it can be difficult to know how much plaque is on your teeth. To accomplish this, you can purchase "developer films" at a grocery store or drug store. After chewing it, the dental plaque on the teeth will be dyed bright red, so that the dental plaque on the teeth can be easily located, and then this area can be brushed.

2. You can achieve the same effect by applying green food coloring on your teeth with a cotton swab, dyeing the dental plaque green for easier location.

3. Use the correct toothbrush and toothpaste. In order to clean your teeth effectively and ensure that plaque is removed as thoroughly as possible, it is important to choose the right tools. While there are many toothbrushes on the market, the American Dental Association states that any "round-head, polished, soft-bristled nylon toothbrush" will do the job. A hard-bristled toothbrush can wear away tooth enamel. In addition to the right toothbrush, you also need a good fluoride toothpaste. Fluoride strengthens teeth and prevents tooth decay.

4. Electric toothbrushes are not much better than ordinary manually operated toothbrushes. However, some people find that they brush their teeth more regularly and for longer periods of time if they have an electric toothbrush, and if that's the case, investing in one might be a good idea.

5. Dentists recommend replacing your toothbrush every 3 to 4 months. As the toothbrush is used for a longer time, its cleaning ability becomes weaker.

6. Use the correct brushing method. When brushing your teeth, hold the toothbrush at a 45-degree angle to the gum line and brush from the gums outward, making short vertical, back-and-forth, or circular motions. Don't brush too hard, as this can damage your tooth enamel.

7. Focus on each tooth. Make sure to brush every tooth to ensure that no teeth are missed. Remember to brush the outside, inside, and biting surfaces, paying special attention to those teeth in the back that are harder to reach. It is more appropriate to control the brushing time within 2 minutes - you can use a stopwatch to feel how long 2 minutes is, or you can hum a song to spend these 2 minutes.
