Postural scoliosis requires comprehensive treatment

Postural scoliosis requires comprehensive treatment

Many people usually do not pay attention to the correct posture, especially children. If parents do not pay attention to supervision, it is easy for children to develop postural scoliosis. Postural scoliosis requires comprehensive treatment, and more importantly, prevention in school-age children.

1. Comprehensive treatment

The key to preventing scoliosis is prevention, and school-age children should maintain correct posture when sitting. Postural scoliosis does not require corrective treatment, but the strength of the back muscles, abdominal muscles, iliacus muscles and shoulder muscles should be strengthened to increase the mobility of the spine and improve posture. People with persistent scoliosis and a larger curvature of the spine may wear a brace. Squeeze with a compression pad on the convex side bracket. Scoliosis caused by the sequelae of poliomyelitis can be corrected by wearing a brace. If the problem is caused by limb length discrepancy, the heels can be raised to make the two lower limbs equal in length.

2. Surgery

For patients whose deformity continues to progress after conventional scoliosis treatment, who have persistent pain, and whose spine becomes easily fatigued and unstable, surgical treatment may be considered. The surgical method usually uses special instruments to correct the deformity, and bone grafting and fusion are performed to maintain the stability of the spine and maintain the corrected position.

3. Home examination methods for pediatric scoliosis

1. Touch the spinous processes of the baby's spine one by one with your hands and observe whether their connecting lines are in a straight line. This is one of the home examination methods for scoliosis in children.

2. Let the baby expose his waist and back, stand upright, and observe the shoulders, shoulder blades, lumbar concavity, and pelvis on both sides from the back to see if they are symmetrical and whether there is scoliosis. Asymmetry is abnormal.

3. Let the baby stand at attention, stretch his arms forward, put his palms together, lower his head and bend forward, and put his hands in the middle of his feet. At this time, the examiner observes from behind whether the waist and back are symmetrical. If one side is bulging, it is abnormal. This is also a home check method for scoliosis in children.
