How to effectively remove hypertrophic scars

How to effectively remove hypertrophic scars

Hypertrophic scars are actually a type of scar and are very stubborn. If we want to effectively treat and solve them in our daily lives, the best way is through laser therapy or dermabrasion, or cortisone injection.

1. Laser Treatment - Highly effective in scar removal, laser surgery involves vaporizing scar tissue one level at a time starting at the topmost layer of the skin. This will reduce the skin layer exposed, therefore, initiating the growth of new collagen tissue. The duration of treatment may vary, depending on the depth of the injury. Patients are advised to undergo laser treatment several times to achieve maximum results.

2. Chemical Peel - This procedure involves the application of certain chemicals on the upper dermis to remove scars and promote skin exfoliation. As new skin develops, the scar becomes unnoticeable. However, this can be an expensive method of scar removal, as patients will get better results with some peeling.

3. Microdermabrasion - This method is often used to improve the appearance of scars and fine lines. This procedure involves intentional wounding of the skin, causing bleeding, and the patient must be under general anesthesia. When the wound heals, the damaged skin removed during the abrasion process is replaced with new skin growth.

4. Cortisone Injections - With this method, steroids are injected into the scars, which thicken and become more and more noticeable over time. Among the treatment methods, this is considered one of the safest and most painless procedures.
