There are white spots on my arms, what's going on?

In the hot summer, most people choose to wear short sleeves and shorts to avoid the heat, which exposes the skin of people's arms and legs to people's sight. In life, we often see white spots on some people's arms, but what is the reason for this? Most people don't really understand this. In fact, the appearance of white spots on the arms is related to many diseases, vitiligo is one of them.

1. Small white spots appear on the arms? The difference between white spots and vitiligo

1. Vitiligo includes many skin diseases. It can be an independent skin disease or a part of the skin manifestation of a certain skin disease. It can be congenital or acquired, and has both genetic and infectious factors.

Common congenital white spots on the skin include anemic nevus and apigmented nevus, while acquired or secondary ones include halo nevus, tinea versicolor, pityriasis alba, and secondary white spots caused by inflammatory skin diseases. Therefore, when you find white spots on your body, don’t assume that you have vitiligo. Instead, you should go to a professional and regular vitiligo hospital for examination. Only then can a scientific diagnosis tell you whether the white spots are vitiligo. This can prevent vitiligo patients from getting their condition worse due to blind treatment.

2. Vitiligo is also known as white erosion disease. It is caused by the loss of melanin. Although vitiligo is not painful and does not itch, its arrival seriously affects the patient's life, marriage, work and interpersonal relationships. The incidence of vitiligo is constantly increasing and anyone may be affected.

2. How to determine whether you have vitiligo?

1. First, find the cause. The cause of vitiligo is relatively complicated. Finding the cause before treatment and using symptomatic medication according to the cause is the key to treating vitiligo. There are nine types of vitiligo. First, you need to diagnose which type of vitiligo you have; and confirm whether the vitiligo is malignant or benign.

2. Judge based on the symptoms of vitiligo. The obvious symptom of vitiligo is the appearance of vitiligo on the skin. Although there is no pain or itching when the disease occurs, redness, blistering and other symptoms will appear under strong ultraviolet rays. Vitiligo can occur anywhere on the body, in varying sizes and shapes, including round, oval or irregular. When the disease first occurs, the white spots are light white in color.

3. Vitiligo is contagious. If not treated in time, it will spread throughout the body and may be accompanied by other diseases in severe cases. Go to the hospital for diagnosis. There are many methods to diagnose vitiligo, such as: blood, Wood lamp irradiation, trace element examination, etc. Some patients have small white spots on their bodies and don’t know what’s going on or what causes it. If you ignore it, the white spots will spread.
