What to do if the nail grows into the flesh and becomes festered? It turns out this is the solution

In life, many female friends will have their toenails growing into the flesh. This is mainly caused by women wearing pointed shoes that are too tight. If not treated in time, it can easily cause suppuration and inflammation. So what should you do when your nail grows into the flesh and becomes festered? In fact, there are two ways to deal with it. The first and most important thing is to reduce inflammation.

1. How to deal with nails growing into the flesh and festering

Anti-inflammatory: Apply or soak the affected toe with iodine tincture, 4 to 6 times a day, each time for 15 to 20 minutes, until the skin turns white. Use the disinfecting effect of iodine tincture to corrode the diseased skin tissue and allow it to regrow.

Onychoplasty: Start from the root of the patient's nail, make a straight "Z"-shaped incision through the nail edge to the nail groove, remove the nail plate and nail bed along with the inflammatory granulation tissue near the nail groove, and use the soft tissue outside the nail groove to shape a new nail groove so that the nail plate can grow straight.

For patients whose nail is not particularly bent or ingrown, auxiliary measures can be taken to change the growth direction of the nail plate. The specific operation is: trim the ingrown nail first to avoid leaving a sharp nail on the outer edge before the operation, and then put a little medical gauze under the nail plate at the ingrown nail to support the nail plate. Change the gauze every once in a while. As the nail grows, you will find that the growth direction of the nail plate has changed and it no longer grows downward. When the length of the nail exceeds the soft tissue around the nail, the ingrown nail will be healed. After healing, remember to cut your toenails into a square shape. At the same time, do not cut them too short, so that the toenails can cover the soft tissue around the nails.

2. Reasons why nails grow into the flesh

1. The toenails are trimmed too deep. The side edges of the nail plate are not trimmed evenly and are trimmed too deep, causing the side edge of the toenails to pierce into the soft tissue of the nail groove like "hard thorns" and cause ingrown toenails.

2. Wearing shoes that are too tight is more common in female patients. Wearing high-heeled pointed shoes squeezes the side edge of the toenail into the soft tissue of the nail groove, rubbing the nail plate and nail fold, causing soft tissue swelling and forming ingrown toenails and paronychia.

3. Caused by trauma, such as being kicked or stepped on by others, which causes the nail plate to tear, causing the side edge of the nail plate to be closer to the soft tissue of the nail groove and form an ingrown nail, which is more common in young students.

4. Other factors, such as congenital hallux valgus, nail dystrophy, pachyonychia, onychomycosis, etc. Ingrown toenails are also related to occupation, and are more common in service occupations that require standing work.
