What to do if you can’t urinate completely? How to treat it?

The trouble and harm caused to patients by urinary incontinence is undoubtedly enormous. The feeling is very torturous. Many patients are in great pain. If you want to get rid of the pain, you should take certain measures to care for and treat it. So, what should you do if you cannot urinate completely?

Vulva cleaning

(1) It is very important to pay attention to the cleanliness of the vulva. You should always pay attention to the health of your private parts. This will effectively prevent vulva infections and urinary incontinence.

(2) Adults should wash their vulva once a day, change their underwear frequently, and wipe their anus after defecation, from front to back, to avoid bringing anal dirt into the urethra.

(3) Sit-baths are prohibited. If you sit in the bathtub to take a bath, the dirty water can easily seep into the urethra and cause infection. Because the female urethra is short and wide, and the urethral opening is close to the vagina and anus, special attention should be paid.

Preventing urine retention

(1) When we feel the urge to urinate, we should urinate immediately and not hold it in. Holding it in will cause bladder distension and pain, and may also result in incomplete urination.

(2) Women who are more than 5 months pregnant should sleep on their left or right side to prevent the uterus from compressing the ureter and causing poor urinary flow.

(3) Actively treat diseases that cause urinary tract obstruction, such as urinary stones, tumors, prostatic hyperplasia, phimosis, renal ptosis, scar stenosis, and congenital malformations of the urinary system.

Eliminate germs

(1) Actively treat infectious diseases, such as tonsillitis, skin swelling or traumatic infection, cholecystitis, pelvic inflammatory disease, appendicitis, prostatitis, dental caries infection, sinusitis, etc. Adequate medication should be used to thoroughly clean the area to prevent bacteria from entering the urinary system through the blood and lymphatic channels, and to kill bacteria that have already invaded the urinary tract.

Drinking more water will increase urine output

(2) Drinking more water will increase urine volume. Drinking water regularly can continuously flush our urethra, expel bacteria and toxins in the urethra, and maintain the health of the urethra.

Radical treatment to prevent change

(1) Thorough treatment

Patients who have been diagnosed with urinary tract infection must take adequate medication over an adequate course of treatment and should not take it lightly. If treatment is discontinued or medication is stopped prematurely, the disease may become chronic and not healed. Generally, after the symptoms disappear completely and the urine test returns to normal, the medication should be continued for 3-5 days. After stopping the medication, the urine should be checked once a week. Only when no abnormalities are found for more than 3 consecutive times can it be considered basically cured.

(2) Finding the cause of chronic disease

Chronic patients should find out the reasons for delayed recovery, to see if there is urinary tract obstruction or other infectious diseases, especially infectious diseases at the urethral orifice; whether there are chronic wasting diseases that reduce the body's resistance, such as diabetes, liver disease, tumors, tuberculosis, other kidney diseases, etc.; whether they are taking immunosuppressive drugs such as prednisone, Kunming begonia, penicillamine and anti-tumor drugs in recent time; whether they are using medication irregularly in violation of doctor's orders, etc. Then carry out targeted prevention and treatment and strive for a speedy recovery.

(3) Long-term follow-up observation

The complete cure of chronic urinary tract infection is a long-term process and should be followed up. If symptoms reappear within 6-9 weeks after stopping the medication, it should be regarded as reinfection or recurrence of the original disease, and the medication should be continued for about another half a year. Urine should still be checked monthly for six months after stopping the medication. If there are signs of recurrence, seek immediate treatment to prevent the disease from evolving into uremia.

Suitable for both movement and stillness

Strengthening physical exercise and improving physical fitness are important aspects of preventing urinary tract infections. Once infected, you should stay in bed during the acute phase with fever and abnormal urine test results. During the recovery period, you should participate in moderate physical activities to avoid physical weakness and prolonged recovery. The type of activity may vary from person to person, but it should not be too tiring.
