How to calculate body mass index? Body mass index calculation equation

People usually need to have a weight index table and a normal weight plan to determine whether their weight is currently within the normal range. This aspect should be taken into consideration when measuring weight and losing weight. The calculation of the weight index table needs to be effective on adults. Children have special weight calculation tables, and adults and children need to be distinguished.

Body mass index (BMI) = weight (kg) ÷ height^2 (m)

EX: 70kg÷(1.75×1.75)=22.86

Example:

For example: a person is 1.75 meters tall and weighs 68 kilograms. His BMI = 68/(1.75^2) = 22.2 (kg/m^2). When the BMI index is 18.5-23.9, it is normal.

BMI values for adults:

Too light: less than 18.5

Normal: 18.5-24.99

Overweight: 25-28

Obesity: 28-32

Very obese, above 32

BMI is an indicator closely related to the total amount of body fat, which takes into account both weight and height. BMI is simple, practical and can reflect systemic overweight and obesity. It is more accurate in measuring the risks of heart disease, high blood pressure, etc. due to being overweight than simply determining it based on weight.

The BMI index (body mass index, also known as weight, in English, Body Mass Index, abbreviated as BMI) is a number obtained by dividing the weight in kilograms by the square of the height in meters. It is currently a commonly used standard internationally to measure the degree of fatness and health of the human body. Mainly used for statistical purposes, BMI value is a neutral and reliable indicator when we need to compare and analyze the health effects of a person's weight on people of different heights.
