Can flax oil be used for cooking? Three major taboos in its use

Flax oil is a type of edible oil. Many people think that flax oil is the same as ordinary vegetable oil and can be used for cooking. It is worth pointing out that although flax oil can be used for cooking, it is not encouraged to use flax oil for cooking. High temperatures will destroy the nutritional composition of flaxseed oil, which will lead to unhealthy nutritional intake in the long run.

1. Three taboos in using flax oil

1. Use linseed oil to heat the food at high temperature. Ordinary oils are used for cooking, but you must not heat flaxseed oil at high temperatures for cooking, because the main original nutrient component of flaxseed oil - a-linolenic acid (omega-3) is a very active polyunsaturated fatty acid and a very rare natural antioxidant. Once heated above 45 degrees, this nutrient begins to be destroyed. The higher the temperature and the longer the heating time, the more serious the destruction of the a-linolenic acid.

2. Store flaxseed oil for a long time after opening the bottle. After opening the bottle of cold-pressed flaxseed oil, it is best to consume it within 45-60 days, because a-linolenic acid is afraid of oxygen. If it is stored for a long time after opening the bottle, it will slowly be oxidized, so the nutrients will be lost.

3. Place the linseed oil where it can be exposed to sunlight. α-linolenic acid is afraid of light, so regular cold-pressed linseed oil must be in a dark bottle because it can protect against light. Now a lot of flaxseed oil on the market is packaged in transparent glass bottles, which is not very scientific.

2. How to eat flaxseed oil better

1. Low temperature cooking: Use alone or mix with daily cooking oil for healthier and more delicious cooking.

2. Seasoning for delicious soups: Add flaxseed oil to cooked porridge or soup to enhance the color and flavor.

3. Cleverly prepare cold dishes: Use flaxseed oil to prepare cold dishes and salads to quickly upgrade their deliciousness.

4. Baking cakes: Use flaxseed oil instead of ordinary cooking oil or butter to bake cakes, which will have a pleasant fragrance.

5. Mixed consumption: Add flaxseed oil directly into yogurt and mix them together for consumption, a new nutritional fashion.

6. Direct consumption: Adults should take 15-20ml per day, and children should reduce the intake to 5-10ml to stay healthy.
