Things to note when getting hepatitis B vaccine

I believe that everyone has received the hepatitis B vaccine since childhood, and even had a hepatitis B antibody test when in college. If you don’t have it, you have to get vaccinated. This is an effective way to prevent hepatitis B and has been recognized by the whole society to prevent more people from being infected with hepatitis B. So how to get the vaccine and what precautions should be taken.

I believe many people know that timely injection of hepatitis B vaccine can successfully prevent hepatitis B virus infection. If newborns are vaccinated with hepatitis B vaccine as soon as they are born, it can basically ensure that they will not get hepatitis B in the future. Do not get vaccinated against hepatitis B, because hepatitis B is highly contagious and its incidence rate is higher than that of other diseases.

If neither of the newborn's parents has hepatitis B, the newborn should be given one intramuscular injection of the genetically engineered hepatitis B vaccine as soon as possible after birth, generally within 8 hours, in the deltoid muscle of the upper arm (for both children and adults). One month later, another injection should be given, and another injection after 6 months, for a total of 3 injections. This regimen is called the 0, 1, 6 regimen.

It is important to remember that both children and adults should be tested before vaccination.

If the three hepatitis B system tests are all negative and the transaminase is normal, hepatitis B vaccination can be carried out according to the 0, 1, and 6 schedules. The immunization success rate is over 90%. The sign of successful immunization is that the hepatitis B surface antibody turns positive. The protection time is more than 2 years. The vaccine recipients should regularly check the three hepatitis B systems. As long as the surface antibodies still exist, it proves that the immune ability remains.

There are several things to pay attention to when injecting:

1. Anyone with fever, severe infection or other serious systemic diseases should postpone vaccination.

2. The first shot for a newborn must be given within 24 hours after birth, or more than 48 hours later. The preventive effect is reduced. If the baby has not been vaccinated within one month after birth, the relevant hepatitis B indicators should be tested first. If it is confirmed that the baby is not infected, it can be used together with hepatitis B high-titer immunoglobulin (HBIG).

3. The hepatitis B vaccine can be administered simultaneously with other vaccines such as DPT, BCG, and Japanese encephalitis vaccine without interfering with each other. However, some people believe that if it is administered at the same time as the measles vaccine, the immune effect of the measles vaccine may be reduced, so it is best to administer the two separately.

4. The local area should be kept clean after injection. It is best not to scrub it within three days to avoid scratching and causing local infection.

5. 1-3 months after the third injection of the vaccine, you should go to the hospital to test the level of protective antibodies (anti-HBs) to determine the immune effect. If it is ineffective, a booster injection is required.

1-3 months after the third injection of the vaccine, you should go to the hospital to test the level of protective antibodies (anti-HBs) to determine the immune effect.

6. Adults need to test their hepatitis B virus (HBV) indicators before vaccination. Those who are already infected, or have recovered from the infection and produced protective antibodies, do not need to be vaccinated.

7. It is contraindicated for those who are allergic to formalin, thimerosal or other drugs.
