What causes dry lips?

People with dry lips should never ignore it, because in addition to weather reasons that cause dry lips due to dehydration, patients with diabetes or chronic mumps may also show symptoms of frequent dry lips.

1. Diabetes: The typical symptoms of diabetic patients can be summarized as "three mores and one less", namely, drinking more, eating more, urinating more and losing weight. Due to frequent urination, the body loses a lot of water, so it is easy to feel thirsty and like to drink more water.

2. Chronic mumps:

The bacteria causes chronic mumps, which is characterized by decreased saliva. In addition to dry mouth, there will be a salty taste in the mouth when you wake up in the morning.

3. Sjögren's syndrome:

As an immune disease, if it is not detected and controlled early, it will cause serious conditions in other parts of the body. The main symptoms of dry mouth in this patient are: first, the mouth usually feels extremely dry, and they often have to get up to drink water at night, and have difficulty swallowing food; second, the tongue and teeth lose the nourishment of saliva, causing changes in the oral environment; finally, the tongue surface becomes dry and without saliva, the cementum is damaged, and the teeth in the entire mouth become affected almost at the same time, and bad breath occurs.

4. Hyperthyroidism: Patients with this disease have accelerated energy metabolism: heat production increases and heat dissipation accelerates. This is followed by dry mouth, sweating, heat intolerance, moist skin with increased temperature, enlarged thyroid gland, and exophthalmos.

In addition, dry mouth is also closely related to the following factors, such as mental factors such as tension and anxiety; the glands in the oral mucosa of the elderly atrophy and the decrease in saliva secretion.

No matter what the cause of dry mouth is, you can drink some Chinese medicine soaked in water to relieve the symptoms. For example, take 10 grams of Polygonatum sibiricum, 10 grams of Polygonatum odoratum, 10 grams of Ophiopogon japonicus, 10 grams of Lilium, etc. to promote body fluid and nourish yin, or take 30 grams of Phragmites australis, 10 grams of Chrysanthemum, 10 grams of Lotus leaf, etc. to clear away heat and dampness.
