Does urine routine test have to be done in the morning?

Urinalysis does not necessarily require morning urine, but it is acceptable. Generally speaking, midstream urine should be collected for routine urine tests. Especially for people with kidney disease, you must pay attention to the various precautions for routine urine tests. The urine specimen must be fresh, because after a few hours, the white blood cells and red blood cells in it may be destroyed, affecting the test results.

1. Requirements

1. During the routine urine test, collect no less than 10 ml of urine.

2. Women are generally required to avoid collecting urine samples during their menstrual period to prevent vaginal secretions from mixing into the urine and affecting the test results.

3. It is best to collect midstream urine. Many kidney patients have asked why they should consciously collect midstream urine during routine urine tests? According to the order of urination, urine can be divided into the front section, middle section and back section. Because the first and second stream urine are easily contaminated, midstream urine is generally collected when doing urine routine and urine bacteriological examinations.

4. Urine should be collected in clean and dry containers, such as the disposable urine cup and urine test tube provided by the hospital.

5. The retained urine should be sent to the laboratory for examination as soon as possible, because if it is left for too long, problems such as glucose being decomposed by bacteria, tubular destruction, and cell lysis may occur, affecting the accuracy of the test results.

2. Precautions for routine urine microscopy

1. The urine sample must be fresh, otherwise after being left for a few hours, the red blood cells and white blood cells may be destroyed and the pyuria will disappear.

2. The urine sample must be clean. Women should clean their vulva to avoid mixing in leucorrhea. If there are a large number of polygonal epithelial cells in the urine sediment, they may have been mixed into the leucorrhea, and it is advisable to collect a clean urine sample for re-examination.

3. In patients with urinary tract infection, pyuria is often intermittent, so repeated examinations are necessary before a conclusion can be drawn.

4. The use of antibiotics may affect the accuracy of the examination.
