Why is there a stuffy nose

Fate means that sometimes both nostrils are blocked, but sometimes one nostril is open and the other is blocked. Breathing through only one nostril can also make people feel chest tightness and shortness of breath. Then many people will feel confused. If their nose is blocked, why is there only one nose? This may be related to sleeping posture. If you sleep on your side, only a part of your nose will be pressed, which will cause blood circulation problems and one of your noses will be blocked.

A stuffy nose may be caused by a nasal deformity.

Nasal nasal congenital shape can be divided into two categories: congenital and acquired. Congenital ones, such as congenital anterior nasal atresia or posterior nasal atresia, are caused by abnormal development during the fetal period, resulting in nostrils being absent, the nose becoming smaller, and the nose tip being flat and low. If the back of the nasal cavity is blocked by excess bone plates or mucous membranes, the nasal cavity and the nasopharyngeal cavity will be completely separated, and the nose will naturally be unable to breathe, forcing the person to breathe through the mouth.

As for the acquired anterior and posterior nasal atresia, it is often related to the sequelae of death or facial burns, nasal tuberculous ulcers, nasal lupus, nasal scleroderma, syphilitic granuloma or local scar contraction after radiotherapy of nasopharyngeal and nasal malignant tumors, and it mostly occurs bilaterally.

A stuffy nose may be caused by hypertrophy of the proliferative tissue

Adenoids, also known as proliferative bodies, are a group of lymphoid tissue that grow at the top of the nasopharynx. Under normal circumstances, it protects the body from bacteria invading the respiratory tract. If it grows excessively, it will block the posterior nostril, causing poor ventilation and breathing obstruction.

Nasal congestion may be caused by rhinitis or sinusitis

Rhinitis and sinusitis can cause swelling or hypertrophy of the nasal mucosa, especially the swelling and hypertrophy of the middle and inferior turbinate, which can stick to the nasal septum. Moreover, due to the increased viscosity of the nasal mucus, or due to the accumulation of nasal mucus in the nasal cavity, the nasal cavity can be blocked and affect breathing.

A stuffy nose may be caused by an allergic disease of the nose

Allergic diseases of the nose are caused by the stimulation of cold or hot wind, or the inhalation of dust, mold spores, pollen, cereal powder and some special smells, which cause allergies in the respiratory mucosa and temporary edema. It manifests itself in the nose, where the nasal mucosa becomes pale and swollen, especially the inferior turbinate, which becomes swollen and enlarged, blocking the nasal cavity. When this disease occurs, it is also accompanied by symptoms such as runny nose and sneezing. The patient thought he had suddenly caught a cold again, but in fact it was an allergic reaction. Colds are caused by viruses, and the nasal mucosa becomes red, swollen and congested, making them very easy to identify.
