What are the symptoms of digestive motility diseases

There are several types of digestive motility diseases, basically all of which are diseases of the digestive system. Digestive motility diseases will cause some obvious symptoms and damage to the body. Knowing more about the symptoms of digestive motility diseases can protect our bodies.

1. Gastroesophageal reflux

This disease refers to a disease in which the contents of the stomach and duodenum reflux into the esophagus, causing uncomfortable symptoms and (or) complications such as heartburn and acid reflux. In severe cases, extraesophageal symptoms such as pharyngitis, chronic cough or bronchial asthma may occur.

2. Achalasia

Achalasia, also known as cardia spasm or megaesophagus, is a motility disease caused by neuromuscular dysfunction at the esophageal-gastric junction. Patients often experience recurrent dysphagia, food regurgitation, and pain behind the sternum, which can affect their eating and lead to malnutrition and weight loss.

3. Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS )

IBS is a common gastrointestinal functional disorder in clinical practice. It is more common in young and middle-aged people, and the main symptoms are abdominal discomfort or abdominal pain that often recurs in various locations, most commonly in the lower abdomen and left lower abdomen, and is relieved after passing gas or defecation.

4. Functional constipation

Constipation is characterized by decreased frequency of bowel movements, hard and dry stools, and/or difficulty in defecation. Reduced bowel movement frequency means fewer than 3 bowel movements per week. Chronic constipation lasts for at least 6 months. Among the causes of chronic constipation, most are functional diseases, accounting for as high as 57.1%. Functional constipation is mainly related to many factors such as gender, age, living habits, social status, psychology and abnormal digestive system function.
