What causes tinea pedis

What causes tinea pedis

The occurrence of tinea pedis and tinea manuum is actually affected by many factors, the most common of which are infections with Trichophyton rubrum and Trichophyton mentagrophytes. In addition, people with poor resistance are more likely to get sick. It is also easy to be infected in public places and when using public supplies.

1. Infection:

The pathogenic bacteria are mainly Trichophyton and Epidermophyton. Common species include Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton mentagrophytes and Epidermophyton floccosum. Among them, Trichophyton rubrum has become the main pathogenic bacteria of tinea pedis in my country because of its strong resistance and difficulty in control.

2. Transmission channels:

The disease is transmitted through contact. Bathing in a public bath, wearing public slippers, wearing patients' shoes, socks, gloves, and using public bath towels are all likely to cause infection. The reason for the widespread transmission of the disease may be that Trichophyton rubrum or Epidermophyton floccosum often forms articular spores in the dandruff, which can resist harsh environments and survive for a long time and have the ability to infect others. In addition, Trichophyton rubrum can easily cause thickening of the stratum corneum and invade the vellus hair. It is not easy to cure and is prone to relapse. Furthermore, because the damage is not serious, patients often have no symptoms and often do not pay attention to it and do not seek medical treatment in time. Therefore, the lesions often persist.

3. Age:

It is more common in young and middle-aged people, but there is no statistical data showing that the incidence rate increases with age. ?

4. Gender:

Generally, there are more male patients than female patients, probably because men have a wider range of activities, travel more frequently and do not pay attention to hygiene.

5. Climate:

Fungi reproduce and grow actively under warm and humid conditions, so the incidence rate is higher in southern my country, while there are fewer patients in the dry and cold north.

6. Occupation:

Some factory and mine workers need to wear rubber shoes or long boots. Some working environments are hot and humid (such as some workshops in textile factories), and the incidence of tinea pedis is relatively high.

7. Hygiene:

Paying attention to personal hygiene, washing your feet frequently, and not using public bath towels or slippers can reduce the chance of infection.
