Can I undergo myopia surgery if I have high intraocular pressure?

Whether surgery is suitable for high intraocular pressure actually depends on the patient's condition. Medication can also be used to help lower intraocular pressure. Some intraocular pressure-lowering drops can be used. At ordinary times, you should pay attention to taking better care of your eyes and prevent excessive use of your eyes.

1. Generally, this type of surgery is not suitable if the intraocular pressure is higher than normal. The normal range of intraocular pressure is: 10-21mmHg. If the intraocular pressure is slightly higher than this range, it may be glaucoma, or it may be a measurement error caused by the thick cornea, or it may be normal high intraocular pressure, but some of these may develop into glaucoma many years later. Therefore, if your intraocular pressure is high, it is best to measure the corneal thickness first, and then do a retinal nerve fiber layer thickness test, which can basically determine whether it is early glaucoma. This will also rule out the contraindications of excimer laser surgery. If you meet other conditions for excimer laser surgery, you can discuss the surgery with your doctor.

2. Available drugs: drugs for lowering intraocular pressure. Pilocarpine eye drops: commonly used for open-angle glaucoma. Physostigmine eye drops: mostly used for acute glaucoma; after taking the medicine, the lacrimal sac should be compressed to prevent absorption and poisoning. Epinephrine eye drops: used for simple glaucoma, and are contraindicated for patients with diabetes, heart disease, hyperthyroidism, and hypertension. Propranolol eye drops: used for simple glaucoma, and can also be used in combination with pilocarpine eye drops, but should not be used by the elderly, those with slow heart rate, and those with asthma. Timolol maleate eye drops: mainly used for open-angle glaucoma, aphakic glaucoma, certain secondary glaucoma, high intraocular pressure, use with caution in patients with heart failure and bronchial asthma, and it is best not to be used by pregnant women and children. It is contraindicated for patients who are allergic to this product or have bradycardia.

3. You can use yoga: Yoga says that you should close your eyes, rub your palms together to warm them up, and then gently place them on your eyes to relieve eye fatigue and lower intraocular pressure.
