What causes rectal cancer

What causes rectal cancer

Rectal cancer is the most common type of colorectal cancer. Most patients are over 40 years old. However, in recent years, many people under 30 have also suffered from this disease. It is important to understand the causes of rectal cancer and carry out targeted treatment in a timely manner. So, what causes rectal cancer?

1. Genetic factors: Genetic factors are an important cause of rectal cancer. In families with rectal cancer, about 1/4 of new patients have a family history of rectal cancer. Relatives have had rectal cancer, and their descendants are more likely to suffer from the disease in their lifetime than the general population. The cell genetic genes change, causing malignant cells with the genetic characteristics of the tumor, forming a familial malignant tumor.

2. Rectal polyps: Rectal polyps are also a major factor in the development of rectal cancer. Rectal polyps are the main cause of precancerous lesions of rectal cancer, especially familial multiple adenomatous polyposis, which has a higher chance of canceration. The canceration rate of papillary adenomatous polyps, among which villous adenomatous polyps, is about 25%; malignant transformation of tubular adenomatous polyps is also relatively common.

3. Chronic inflammatory bowel disease: If you suffer from long-term chronic inflammation, it is also possible to cause rectal cancer. Chronic inflammatory stimulation can cause rectal cancer, such as chronic bacterial infection schistosomiasis, amoebic dysentery, chronic nonspecific ulcerative colitis, diverticulitis, chronic bacillary dysentery, etc., which can cause granulomas in the mucosa and can go through the granuloma, inflammatory and pseudopolyp stages to cause cancer.

Through understanding the above content, everyone has some knowledge and understanding of the causes of rectal cancer. Experts remind that if you suffer from rectal polyps or chronic inflammation, patients must pay enough attention and receive correct treatment as soon as possible.
