Is gingival tumor serious? Beware of worsening

Gingival tumor does not have any tumor characteristics. It is not a real tumor, but just a lump. Although it is painless and itchy, if not treated in time, it may cause more serious diseases or even cancer. But there is no need to worry too much, as it can be easily cured with timely treatment.

Gingival tumors originate from the connective tissue of the periodontal membrane and the alveolar process of the mandible. They do not have the unique structure of tumors and are therefore not true tumors; however, they have the appearance and biological behavior of tumors.

Gingival tumors are generally caused by local factors such as residual roots, tartar, and poor restorations, and are related to mechanical stimulation or chronic inflammatory stimulation. In addition, it is also related to endocrine factors. For example, women are more likely to develop gingival tumors during pregnancy, and the gingival tumors shrink or stop growing after delivery.

Gingival adenomas are benign tumors that can become cancerous but rarely do so. Surgery can be performed to remove the cause of the gingival tumor, but it is easy to recur after removal.

If it is not removed immediately, it may easily cause bite ulcers, secondary infection, damage the alveolar bone wall and cause bone absorption, and the tooth may become loose or displaced.

Long-term stimulation will lead to worsening of the condition. In fact, gingival tumors are basically benign. You just need to go to the dental department for a small surgery to remove them, and then make a pathological section. Don't panic.

Pay attention to proper nutrition in daily life, diversify your food as much as possible, eat more high-protein, multi-vitamin, low-animal fat, easily digestible foods and fresh fruits and vegetables. Do not eat stale, spoiled or irritating food, eat less smoked, grilled, pickled, fried, or overly salty food, and combine coarse and fine grains in staple foods to ensure nutritional balance.
