What are the symptoms of hip dislocation

If the hip dislocation is serious, it will hinder our joint movement, and it may cause local redness, swelling, pain and other phenomena, so it is necessary to take timely countermeasures to avoid more adverse effects.

1. Posterior dislocation

(1) History of hip injury in flexion-adduction position.

(2) Hip joint pain, movement disorders, etc.

(3) Specific signs of dislocation: The hip joint is elastically fixed in flexion, adduction, and internal rotation, the toes touch the dorsum of the healthy foot, and the affected limb appears shorter. The inguinal groove joint is empty, and the raised femoral head can be felt behind the ilium. The greater trochanter moves upward and is above the iliac line (the line connecting the anterior superior iliac spine and the ischial tuberosity, i.e. nelaton's line).

(4) Sometimes there is sciatic nerve injury and posterior superior acetabulum fracture. In the late stage, femoral head necrosis may occur.

(5) X-ray examination can determine the type of dislocation and fracture, and differentiate it from femoral neck fracture.

2. In anterior dislocation, the hip joint is in flexion, abduction, and external rotation deformity. The affected limb is rarely shortened, and the greater trochanter is also prominent, but not as obvious as in posterior dislocation. It may be located below the ilioccipital line, and the femoral head can be felt in front of the obturator foramen.

3. Central dislocation deformity: In severe cases of dislocation, the affected limb may be shortened, the lower limb may be internally rotated and adducted, the greater trochanter may be invisible, and the hip joint movement may be impaired. Clinically, an X-ray examination is often required to confirm the diagnosis. It is often accompanied by acetabular fracture, sciatic nerve and pelvic organ damage, and traumatic arthritis in the late stage.
