What is the TCM treatment for cardiomyopathy

Cardiomyopathy is one of the common heart diseases in our lives, because many elderly people will experience weakening of the heart muscle at a certain age, leading to a decline in myocardial function. The treatment of cardiomyopathy must focus on internal regulation, and traditional Chinese medicine is also the treatment method chosen by many patients.

Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatment:

(1) Deficiency of both Qi and Yin: palpitations, shortness of breath, fatigue, chest tightness, spontaneous sweating, thirst, red tongue with little fluid, and thin or intermittent pulse.

Treatment method: Invigorate Qi and nourish Yin.

Prescription: 30 grams of Prince ginseng, 10 grams each of Asparagus cochinchinensis, Ophiopogon japonicus, Rehmannia glutinosa, Schisandra chinensis, Dendrobium officinale, and White Peony Root, and 8 grams of roasted Licorice root.

(2) Yang deficiency and water retention: palpitations, chest tightness, fatigue, shortness of breath, cold body and limbs, edema, oliguria, shortness of breath when moving, white tongue coating, and deep and thready pulse.

Treatment method: Warming the yang and promoting diuresis.

Prescription: 20 grams of Poria cocos, 15 grams of Polyporus umbellatus, 10 grams each of processed aconite root, white peony root, Atractylodes macrocephala, Codonopsis pilosula, and Salvia miltiorrhiza, 6 grams each of cinnamon twig and dried ginger.

(3) Yang deficiency: palpitations, shortness of breath, inability to lie flat, profuse sweating, cold hands and feet, pale tongue with white coating, and a deep, thready and very weak pulse.

Treatment method: restore Yang and consolidate.

Prescription: 15 grams of ginseng, 12 grams of processed aconite root, 30 grams of dragon bone, 20 grams of oyster, 10 grams each of cornus fruit, ophiopogon japonicus, raw rehmannia, salvia miltiorrhiza, angelica sinensis, and astragalus.

For example: Compound Danshen Tablets: It is composed of Danshen, Panax notoginseng, borneol, etc. It has the functions of dilating coronary arteries, increasing coronary flow, inhibiting platelet aggregation, protecting ischemic myocardium and improving microcirculation. There are two kinds of tablets and pills. It is suitable for acute attacks of angina pectoris and also for preventing attacks of angina pectoris.
