What to do about the sequelae of laser treatment for myopia

In life, many of our friends will inevitably cause great harm to their eyes because they have to read while lying down for a long time. In today's society, most of the friends who suffer from myopia are primary and secondary school students, so here I will introduce several laser treatments for myopia sequelae, hoping to extract experience to help everyone.

Since the emergence of laser treatment for myopia, it has been increasingly accepted by the majority of myopia patients. However, experts believe that the safest thing for people with myopia is to wear glasses. If myopia does not have a significant impact on them, it is best not to undergo laser surgery, because laser treatment is surgery after all, and any surgery involves certain risks. Moreover, laser treatment of myopia is a new thing. Although no complications have been found so far, it is hard to say what the situation will be like in a few decades.

Experts believe that it is not advisable for middle school students to cram for myopia treatment at the last minute, because middle school graduates are now in a tense learning state, and a series of examinations such as mydriasis and eye examinations before surgery will delay their studies. In addition, for those with high myopia (more than 600 degrees), there must be a certain recovery period after surgery. The higher the degree, the longer the recovery period. During the recovery period, the eyes cannot see things, which further affects learning. Students who must undergo laser treatment for myopia can receive treatment in advance during the winter and summer vacations.

Is laser myopia treatment safe?

Excimer laser treatment for myopia was first used clinically by American doctors in 1985. It has developed rapidly in recent years and was introduced to China in the early 1990s. The surgical effect of excimer laser in treating high, moderate and low myopia is far superior to previous refractive surgeries, and therefore it has attracted the attention of ophthalmologists all over the world. But many people are still skeptical about it, fearing that their eyes will be pierced or burned.

Generally speaking, excimer laser is ultraviolet light with a very short wavelength. It produces a photochemical effect rather than a thermal effect on biological tissues. Therefore, it will not cause thermal damage, let alone burning.

Knowing about the side effects of laser treatment for myopia, I urge all friends to pay attention to their posture when reading and not to lower their heads to play with mobile phones for a long time. This will have a great impact on their performance. Everyone should protect their health.
