Do you know if common warts are contagious?

Common warts are also called thousand-day warts in daily life. They are mainly caused by viral infection of the skin, mucous membranes or injuries. Common warts are highly contagious in life, so patients should pay more attention to their hygiene during the illness and receive treatment on time.

1. Self-infection

Many people who get warts will find that if they have one wart in one place, they will also have warts in many other places on the body. This is because warts are caused by a virus infection in the body. The virus is contagious and will first infect itself. That is, if there is a wart in one place on the body, if you break it, warts will also grow around it. Therefore, warts should be treated promptly after they appear.

2. Infect others

Because warts are caused by viruses, they are contagious. In daily life, never share a towel with people who have warts. In particular, avoid having too much close physical contact with people who have warts, especially rubbing the warts on your body vigorously, because it is very easy to transfer the virus to people who do not have warts.

1. Causes

Bacterial infection (35%):

The pathogenic bacteria are human papillomavirus (HPV-1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 27, 28, 29). Damage to the skin and mucous membranes and abnormal cellular immune function are the direct factors for infection with this disease.

2. Environmental factors (25%):

Not paying attention to personal hygiene and public hygiene, and failing to disinfect hands in time after touching things touched by carriers.

Human papillomavirus enters the exposed basal cells through wounds. The basal cells that can divide are the storage site of viral DNA. Epithelial cells carrying viral DNA may not show any clinical symptoms and remain in a latent state. When the disease occurs, the skin at the lesion site will have thickening of the acanthosis layer, papilloma-like hyperplasia and hyperkeratosis, accompanied by incomplete keratinization.
