Inside the water heater, the hot water pipe is at a high place, about 2 cm from the top of the inner tank, while the cold water pipe is at a low place, about 3 cm from the bottom of the inner tank. When using the water heater normally, water is always flowing into the cold water pipe. The hot water is squeezed to the top by the cold water and flows out along the hot water pipe, while the scale is deposited at the bottom of the inner tank and will not be discharged through the hot water pipe.

How to clean the scale in the electric water heater by yourself

Light cleaning: Do it yourself. It is recommended to hire someone to clean the electric water heater every three years, and you can clean it yourself every six months. The cleaning steps are not complicated and you can do it yourself.

Unscrew the hot water inlet nut to block the hot water inlet and prevent water from flowing out of the water heater. At the same time, unscrew the nut on the cold water outlet, connect a hose (a shower pipe will do) and drain the water until no water flows out of the cold water outlet. For a 50L water heater, draining takes about 1 hour. Next, remove the hose connected to the cold water outlet, connect one end of the hose to the hot water outlet and the other end to the faucet, open the faucet to fill with water for 1 minute, and block the cold water outlet. Let the cold water stay in the inner tank for a while, then open the cold water outlet to drain, and repeat several times until the discharged water is clean.

Finally, tighten the nuts on the cold water inlet and hot water inlet, open the triangle valve, and turn on the hot water from the water heater faucet. After the water flows out, close it. Cleaning precautions: Before cleaning, the water temperature of the water heater should be below 50℃. At this water temperature, it can be discharged directly into the sewer pipe without affecting the pipe. When cleaning, if the water heater has a drain outlet, it can be opened at the same time, because the drain outlet is located lower than the cold water outlet and the sewage can be discharged more thoroughly.

Don’t think that hot water will not produce scale. There will also be more scale after hot water is filtered. Therefore, it is recommended that you can clean it directly with your hands or some tools. You can also ask someone to clean it.
