What are the precautions for blood rheology examination

Blood rheology examination is a very basic examination method. Through this examination, the pattern of blood flow in blood vessels can be discovered, and whether there are any abnormalities in blood flow. Blood rheology examination can be used to diagnose heart or vascular diseases, such as hypertension or stroke. However, although blood rheology examination is very basic, some issues do require attention.

Blood rheology testing is of great significance for the prevention or early detection and early treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. You must not eat before having a blood test for blood rheology. It is also best not to drink water again after getting up in the morning, so as not to affect the test results due to drinking water and eating. Blood rheology examination generally includes more than 10 indicators such as whole blood relative viscosity, whole blood reduced viscosity, plasma viscosity, red blood cell electrophoresis time, platelet electrophoresis time, fibrinogen determination, erythrocyte sedimentation rate and red blood cell deformability. This test is included in the physical examination because it has predictive properties for disease and can detect diseases such as arteriosclerosis, hypertension, coronary heart disease, angina pectoris, myocardial infarction, diabetes, cerebrovascular diseases, etc.

Rheological examination mainly reflects the changes in blood fluidity, coagulation and blood viscosity caused by changes in blood components. Under normal circumstances, blood flows in blood vessels under the action of external force (blood pressure), and changes with the changes in blood vessel properties (blood vessel wall condition and blood vessel shape, etc.) and blood components (viscosity) to maintain normal blood circulation. When blood viscosity increases, blood fluidity becomes worse, making cerebral thrombotic diseases more likely to occur. On the contrary, the lower the viscosity, the better the fluidity.

Generally speaking, blood rheology tests can be performed for a variety of diseases. For example, some people suffer from cerebral thrombosis, cerebral hemorrhage, or transient cerebral ischemic attack. At this time, a blood rheology test is needed. Some patients suffer from coronary heart disease, acute myocardial infarction, or permanent angina and may also consider blood rheology examination.
