The four most important values in a routine blood test are total red blood cell count, total white blood cell count, platelets, and hemoglobin. By checking the red blood cells, we can determine whether there is emphysema, carbon monoxide poisoning, cor pulmonale, anemia, etc. Checking white blood cells can mainly reflect the body's immune status. Of course, a routine blood test cannot be done casually, and there are many precautions. You should fast before a blood test, but fasting is not as simple as skipping breakfast. You should avoid eating greasy food the night before the test, and you should fast after 8 o'clock. If you still have a midnight snack at 12 o'clock, you cannot be fasting when the blood is drawn. On the morning of the physical examination, you cannot drink any beverages, including juice and milk, except boiled water. If you want to get a better test result, it is best to eat a vegetarian diet starting from three days before the test. Do not eat too greasy or high-protein food and avoid drinking large amounts of alcohol the day before blood drawing. The alcohol content in the blood will directly affect the test results. After 8 pm the day before the physical examination, you should start fasting for 12 hours to avoid affecting the test results. You should relax when having blood drawn to avoid blood vessel constriction due to fear, which will increase the difficulty of blood collection. After drawing blood, local pressure is applied on the needle hole for 3-5 minutes to stop the bleeding. Note: Do not rub to avoid causing subcutaneous hematoma. The pressing time should be sufficient. The clotting time varies from person to person, and some people need a little longer to clot. Therefore, if you stop applying pressure immediately when the surface of the skin seems to be not bleeding, the bleeding may not stop completely, and the blood may seep into the subcutaneous layer, causing bruises. Therefore, pressing for a longer time can completely stop the bleeding. If there is a tendency of bleeding, the pressing time should be prolonged. The results of a routine blood test must be taken seriously. For example, if a friend is found to have a low platelet count after a routine blood test, it may indicate that he has certain diseases, such as coagulation dysfunction or immune thrombocytopenia. In addition, if the platelet count is high, he may also have certain diseases, such as a purulent infection or leukemia. |
