What are the tips for cleaning range hoods?

(1) Before disassembling and cleaning the range hood, wet your hands with water, apply soap, especially leaving more soap under your nails, and then rub your hands dry. After work, wash them with water and soap again, and no putty will be left on your hands.

(2) Remove the range hood and take some fine sawdust for later use. Wrap some sawdust with cotton yarn or use your hands to wipe the grease. The thicker the grease, the easier it is to wipe off.

Cleaning the fan blades

1. Soaking method with detergent and vinegar. Carefully remove the fan blades and soak them in a basin of hot water mixed with 2 ml of detergent and 50 ml of vinegar. Soak for about 15 minutes, then wipe them with a clean rag. The body of the range hood is also cleaned with this solution. Be careful to keep the solution humidity at around 60°C for better cleaning power. This self-mixed cleaning solution has been proven to be non-irritating to the skin of hands and mucous membranes inside eyes, non-corrosive to range hoods, and the surface retains its original gloss after cleaning.

2. Pressure cooker steam flushing method. Put half a pot of cold water in the pressure cooker and bring it to a boil. When steam is continuously discharged, remove the pressure limiting valve, turn on the range hood and aim the steam column at the rotating fan blades. As the high-temperature steam continuously flushes the fan blades, the oily wastewater will flow into the waste oil box along the oil drain trough.

3. After the cleaned fan blades are dried, apply a layer of office glue. After a few months of use, tear off the oil stains on the fan blades into pieces. The oil stains will all stick to the glue layer, which is both convenient and clean.

4. First, spread newspaper on the stove, turn on the switch of the range hood to "preheat" the fan blades for two minutes, spray detergent on the fan of the range hood, turn off the range hood, let it stand for three minutes, then spray 60°C hot water into the fan of the range hood, and then turn on the switch to allow the dissolved oil to drip into the oil storage box.

Oil storage box cleaning

Stick a layer of plastic wrap inside the box. Part of the plastic wrap should extend outside the oil storage box and completely cover the original inner surface of the box. Allow the oil smoke to be adsorbed on the plastic wrap. Remove it and replace it every once in a while. Alternatively, you can use empty plastic pudding cups or paper cups to replace the original oil storage box. Just replace them regularly to save the trouble of cleaning which is difficult to clean.

Oil screen cleaning

The oil net protecting the fan blades can be slowly removed with a screwdriver, sprayed with "Oil Fume Cleaner" and placed in a plastic bag. Let it sit for 15 minutes before taking it out. Pour 80°C hot water into a basin and clean it carefully with a rag. If the grease on the oil net is very thick, you can also use a thin bamboo piece to gently scrape off some of the grease before cleaning it.
