Gua Sha requirements:

Scraping of the shoulders and back requires the patient to sit with his back to the doctor. If you lie down, your muscles will relax and the shaving effect will be poor. It is best to shave while sitting. First, we need to find the location of the lesion and press to find the pain point, which is often the site of the primary lesion. During treatment, the painful points are scraped with plucking, pressing and kneading techniques to relieve spasms, reduce pain, loosen adhesions and improve shoulder joint function.

Scraping method:

Sit upright or with your feet apart, and scrape the center of the neck using a straight line scraping method. Use light techniques and slow movements. Scrape the Du meridian area in the center of the back of the neck from the hairline downward. Scrape 10 to 20 times. If the patient is thin, has relatively few neck muscles, and has obvious bony protrusions in the cervical vertebrae, you can use the edges and corners of the scraping board to press and massage the intervertebral spaces, pressing each space from top to bottom for about 10 seconds. Then shave the back of your neck in a straight line. 20-30 times on each side. Since there are more muscles here, the force of the technique can be increased a little bit, starting from light to heavy, and then reducing it in the last 3-5 times. Scrape the foot-sun bladder meridian's circuit area on both sides of the spine. Use the corner of the scraping board to scrape the area 2-4 fingers away from the center of the spine on the back. Scrape from top to bottom, and scrape each side 20-30 times.
