What are the differences between Chuanbei Qingfei Cough Syrup

The traditional Chinese medicine Chuanbei is a very familiar medicine to us. It can relieve cough. The medicine made from it is a syrup-type Chinese patent medicine, such as Chuanbei lung-clearing and cough-relieving syrup. Lung-clearing and cough-relieving are separate. When using the medicine, you must be clear about the difference between the medicines and not take them indiscriminately, otherwise it will harm your body and the treatment will be ineffective. So what are the differences between Chuanbei Qingfei Zhike Syrup? The differences depend on the formula ingredients, drug efficacy, etc. of the medicine, and of course, are also related to the patient's cough symptoms.

Chuanbei lung clearing syrup:

The recipe of Chuanbei Qingfei syrup is 250g of loquat leaf, 50g of bitter almond, 5g of Fritillaria cirrhosa, 50g of Ophiopogon japonicus, 50g of Rehmannia glutinosa, 50g of Licorice root, 30g of Platycodon grandiflorum and 15g of mint. For the above eight ingredients, soak the bitter almond in warm water for 24 hours, heat and distill, and introduce the distillate into a container filled with 90% ethanol. When the amount of distillate reaches 40ml, stop distillation, determine the amygdalin content of the distillate [determine according to the content determination method under bitter almond (page 173)] and dilute it to 1.79 amygdalin per 100ml. Heat and distill mint? Collect 100ml of distillate and store it in another container; the remaining six ingredients including loquat leaf and the above two medicinal residues are decocted in water twice, each time for 2 hours, the decoctions are combined, filtered, the filtrate is allowed to stand, and the supernatant is concentrated to an appropriate amount. Take another 600g of sucrose, add water, boil and dissolve, filter to make monosaccharide syrup, add appropriate amount of preservative and the above concentrate, mix well, filter, add 40ml of the above bitter almond water and peppermint distillate, add water to 1000ml, mix well, and you have it. Functions and indications: clearing the lungs and moistening dryness, relieving cough and reducing phlegm. Used for dry cough, dry throat and sore throat caused by wind-heat cold.

Chuanbei cough syrup:

The formula of Chuanbei cough syrup is Fritillaria cirrhosa, loquat leaves, plantain, licorice, ephedra, stemona, platycodon, almond, etc. This product is an over-the-counter cough medicine. Functions and indications: Promote lung qi, dispel wind and cold, relieve cough and eliminate phlegm. Used for colds, coughs and shortness of breath.

The dosage should be determined according to the patient's condition. Chuanbei Qingfei Syrup is used to clear lung heat and is used for wind-heat colds; Chuanbei Zhike Syrup is used for coughs caused by wind-cold colds. If your phlegm is yellow and thick, use the former; if your phlegm is white and thin, use the latter. There are slight differences in the effects. Chuanbei Qingfei Syrup can eliminate phlegm and clear lung heat, while Chuanbei Zhike Syrup can eliminate phlegm and relieve cough, but its effect in clearing lung heat is not as good as that of Qingfei Syrup.

The difference between Chuanbei Qingfei Qingshu Cough Syrup is very obvious. Qingfei is a syrup that is beneficial to the lungs, while Zhishu is important for coughs. When taking the medicine, patients should observe the type of cold. The symptoms and types of coughs are different for different types. Patients must receive symptomatic treatment to cure it.
