Why does bleeding keep happening when brushing teeth?

Brushing teeth is something everyone must do in the morning and evening. This is a good way to protect your teeth from external damage and keep yourself in good condition. Many people do not know the correct way to brush their teeth. Many people always bleed when brushing their teeth, which is very scary. Everyone is confused about this kind of thing. What is going on? Please see.

The most common reason for bleeding when brushing teeth is periodontal disease. When there is gum and periodontal disease, the gums become edematous, a large number of new blood vessels in the gums become congested and dilated, and the permeability increases. Once stimulated by brushing or chewing, the gums will bleed. When there is periodontitis in the mouth, the capillaries become congested and brittle, and they bleed easily when touched or sucked, but the bleeding can usually stop on its own.

Some people believe that bleeding gums are related to vitamin C deficiency, but this is not the case. Scientific research shows that there is no obvious relationship between the severity of periodontitis and the concentration of vitamin C in the blood. Simply supplementing vitamin C does not improve the condition of periodontitis patients, especially since patients usually consume a balanced diet.

Therefore, the most fundamental treatment for periodontitis is to completely remove dental plaque and tartar. At the same time, maintain good oral hygiene. Generally, brushing your teeth can only remove the plaque on the surface of the teeth. More harmful substances (soft plaque, residue, harmful bacteria) remain in the gaps between teeth and cannot be removed by a toothbrush.

Traditionally, Chinese people like to use toothpicks to clean the gaps between teeth and other hidden areas, while Westerners like to use dental floss. No dentist would encourage his patients to use toothpicks because the damage they cause to teeth is obvious: damaging the enamel, widening the gaps between teeth, and so on. Although dental floss is safer than toothpicks, it is still a hard object that comes into contact with teeth and can cause some degree of damage to them. And toothpicks and dental floss can only clean teeth to a limited extent.

Bleeding when brushing your teeth is most likely caused by people lacking certain elements, which leads to this phenomenon. Another reason is that you don't know the correct way to brush your teeth, which can easily damage your teeth and fail to protect them. So people should pay more attention to this aspect in their daily lives.
