What's the matter with dry bleeding caused by rhinitis

Patients with rhinitis often experience nasal discomfort, such as nasal congestion, runny nose, or nasal pain. Patients with rhinitis should also pay attention to protecting their nasal cavity. Even if they often have a runny nose, they should not wipe their nose excessively, because excessive wiping of the nose can easily damage the internal mucosa of the nose. In the dry season, patients with rhinitis will experience nasal bleeding due to excessive dryness of the nasal cavity. What is going on?

What to do if you have rhinitis and nose bleeding

① Patients with massive rhinitis and nosebleeds will feel nervous and fearful. Both the patients and their families should remain calm, otherwise the patient's blood pressure will rise due to nervousness, causing more severe bleeding. Sedatives may be given if the patient is overly nervous.

② Generally, take a sitting or semi-recumbent position. If the patient shows symptoms of collapse or shock such as pale complexion, general weakness, cold sweat, chest tightness, etc., he or she can lie flat with the head down.

③Try not to swallow the blood to avoid irritating the stomach and causing vomiting.

④ Since most rhinitis nosebleeds occur in the front and lower part of the nasal septum, patients can take self-help measures, pinch the nostrils on both sides with the index finger and thumb, and press them towards the front and lower part of the nasal septum for 10 to 15 minutes. As long as the patient does not have blood disease or high fever, the bleeding can usually be coagulated and stopped on its own. If blood still flows out of the mouth, it may be that the bleeding point is not compressed enough. You can press it a little harder and extend the compression time. At the same time, use a cold water bag or wet towel to apply to the forehead and back of the neck to promote blood vessel contraction and reduce bleeding.

⑤ If you have Panax notoginseng powder, Yunnan Baiyao, 1% ephedrine nasal drops, etc. at home, you can dip them on a cotton pad and plug them into the nasal cavity.

⑥If these methods fail to stop the bleeding, you should go to the hospital as soon as possible and seek treatment. After arriving at the hospital, the doctor will first find the bleeding spot and then use drug corrosion or electrocautery to coagulate the bleeding spot. For those with extensive bleeding, Vaseline gauze will be used to pack the nasal cavity and apply pressure to stop the bleeding. For severe rhinitis and nosebleeds, or when the above methods cannot stop the bleeding, the anterior and posterior nasal packing can be used to stop the bleeding. If it is still ineffective, hospitalization for examination and treatment will be required.

Causes of Nosebleeds

1. External injury: External stimulation damages the nasal cavity and causes nose bleeding.

2. Inflammation: Various types of rhinitis are often the cause of nosebleeds. Most people do not pay much attention to the existence of rhinitis. Occasional bleeding can be stopped by stopping the bleeding slightly and it will be gone after a while. In the long run, the inflammation will become more and more serious, and frequent nosebleeds will also bring a lot of trouble to life and work, so everyone should still be vigilant about nosebleeds.

3. Disease: Abnormality in platelet quantity or quality. Abnormalities in the blood clotting mechanism.

4. Acute infectious diseases: Some acute infectious diseases can also cause abnormal nose bleeding.

5. Cardiovascular disease: high arterial pressure, such as hypertension, arteriosclerosis, nephritis, eclampsia with hypertension, etc. Increased venous pressure, such as mitral stenosis, huge masses in the chest, mediastinum, and neck, emphysema, pulmonary edema, and bronchopneumonia. The occurrence of these diseases can also cause nose bleeding.

6. Drug poisoning: The influence and stimulation of the external environment, or drug poisoning, can also cause nose bleeding to varying degrees.

7. Vitamin deficiency: When vitamin C, K, P and trace element calcium are deficient, nose bleeding is likely to occur.

8. Endocrine disorders: Compensatory menstruation and premonitory nosebleeds often occur during puberty, mostly due to a decrease in estrogen levels in the blood and dilation of blood vessels in the nasal mucosa.

9. Tumor: The presence of tumor can also cause nose bleeding.

10. Others: Foreign objects in the nasal cavity and leeches in the nasal cavity can cause repeated heavy bleeding. In plateau areas, due to the low relative humidity, people are more likely to suffer from dry rhinitis, which is an important cause of regional nosebleeds.
