Effects of saturated sodium chloride solution

Effects of saturated sodium chloride solution

Sodium chloride is rarely heard of, and most people don't know what it is. Sodium chloride is water, or physiological saline, because sodium chloride has the same osmotic pressure as blood plasma. It generally has the effect of treating or preventing dehydration, which means it is indispensable in our body. So what other effects does saturated sodium chloride solution have for us?

1. It can absorb the hydrochloric acid mixed in the chlorine gas Cl2+H2O = reversible = HCl+HClO. The saturated solution of NaCl contains more Cl-, which makes the reaction move in the reverse direction and greatly prevents the conversion of Cl2.

Sodium chloride: ‍ Sodium chloride (Sodium chloride), colorless cubic crystals or white crystals, is the main component of table salt. It is easily soluble in water and glycerin, slightly soluble in ethanol and liquid ammonia, insoluble in hydrochloric acid, and slightly deliquescent in the air. It is mainly used in the manufacture of industrial raw materials such as chlorine, hydrogen, bleaching powder, metallic sodium, as well as for salting out soap, tanning leather, food seasoning, and pickling fish, meat and vegetables. If you consume too much, you may easily get high blood pressure.

2. The process of making soap is generally divided into the following steps: 1. Saponification 2. Salting out 3. Washing 4. Alkaline precipitation 5. Finishing 6. Molding

The saturated sodium chloride solution is used to prepare for the second step. Saturated salt water is added to the closed soap material to separate the soap from the dilute glycerin water. The lowest concentration at which soap is precipitated is called the salting-out limiting concentration. After salting-out, the closed soap gel can be separated into the upper soap "soap particles" and the lower glycerin water (there should be an ionic equation for salting-out).

Ethanol is used for its physical properties (ethanol is a very good solvent that can dissolve many inorganic and organic substances. Therefore, ethanol is often used to dissolve plant pigments or medicinal ingredients. It is also often used as a solvent for reactions, so that both organic and inorganic substances participating in the reaction can be dissolved, increasing the contact area and improving the reaction rate). Saponification requires oils, which are not easily soluble in alkaline water. Ethanol is added to increase the solubility of oils in alkaline solutions. The high volatility of ethanol will quickly bring out water, thereby accelerating the saponification reaction.

When storing sodium chloride, we must pay attention to the following things first, such as closed operation methods and ventilation. In particular, some operating personnel must undergo strict formal training before they can operate. When transporting, it must be handled with care to prevent damage. It must be kept away from things with fire sources. The most important thing is to store it separately from oxidants, etc. All operating procedures must be followed.
