Acupuncture points for treating motion sickness

1. Hegu Point

Located on the back of the human hand, at the midpoint of the second metacarpal bone, it is equivalent to the midpoint of the line connecting the end of the first metacarpal bone and the base of the second metacarpal bone, which is often called the "tiger's mouth".

2. Neiguan acupoint

This acupoint connects to the "heart" and has the function of regulating the central nervous system. Pressing the Neiguan acupoint is the most commonly used method to treat motion sickness.

It refers to the area about 2 inches above the center of the horizontal line on the inner side of the palm.

3. Zusanli

It refers to the intersection of three inches below the outer kneecap and one inch outside the anterior tibial spine. Press the above-mentioned acupoints for 1 to 5 minutes based on your personal tolerance level, and stop when you feel soreness and swelling.

Motion sickness acupoint massage method

1. First, close your eyes and relax your body muscles as much as possible. Focus your attention on the top of your head. Use the tips of your index and middle fingers to massage the Baihui point on the top of your head with moderate force, 30 circles each in a clockwise and counterclockwise direction.

2. Use the tip of your thumb to massage the Neiguan point on the wrist and the Hegu point on the back of your hand.

3. Finally, use the thumbs and index fingers of both hands to pinch the stomach reflex area on the ear at the same time. The strength can be gradually increased until it feels painful.

If you suffer from motion sickness, you can use your hands to massage the acupoints mentioned above, which can effectively relieve the symptoms. You can also chew ginger slices, look straight ahead, talk to others to divert your attention, etc., which can help alleviate the symptoms of motion sickness. You can also fall asleep as soon as you get on the bus, so that you won’t have motion sickness symptoms. However, if you are taking a bus, etc., you still need to pay attention to your money to prevent loss.
