Is it a fever if the body temperature remains at 37 degrees?

We all know that the normal body temperature of adults is generally between 35 and 36 degrees, and children's body temperature is higher than that of adults. Fever is a disease problem that no one wants to cause, so if the body temperature is higher than the normal body temperature, is it considered a fever? This situation is not certain, so there is no relevant information to confirm this issue. So is it a fever if the body temperature remains at 37 degrees? Because some people may encounter such problems, we need to understand whether they should see a doctor in this situation.

It should not be considered a fever, because medically, fever is 0.5 degrees above the normal body temperature (36.5). Have you been measuring your temperature incorrectly? It is recommended to use a new thermometer and go to the hospital for treatment. Under normal circumstances, the normal body temperature of a person is around 37.3 degrees.

The normal human body temperature is generally around 36°~37°. The basal body temperature of different people is different, some are higher and some are lower. Women's body temperature is generally lower than men. Generally, if there are no other discomfort symptoms, it should be considered normal. Generally speaking, 37.4 to 38 degrees is a low fever, 38 to 39 degrees is a moderate fever, 39 to 41 degrees is a high fever, and above 41 degrees is a very high fever.

The constancy of body temperature depends on the constant temperature mechanism of the hypothalamus in the brain. Fever occurs because the constant temperature mechanism is destroyed by the virus, so it is set at a higher value. Some infections with fever are caused by the body automatically adjusting to a higher temperature in order to fight the virus.

However, if the body temperature exceeds 42 degrees, it is life-threatening, and if the body temperature is below 34 degrees, there is a risk of hypothermia, which can cause confusion in mild cases and life-threatening in severe cases. People who are chilled, have lost too much blood, or are about to die will have a low body temperature.

The average normal human body temperature is between 36 and 37 degrees Celsius (axillary). Exceeding this range is fever, below 38 degrees Celsius is low fever, and above 39 degrees Celsius is high fever. It is dangerous if the temperature is above 41℃.

When measuring body temperature, you should first shake the mercury column on the thermometer to below 35°C, and then wipe and disinfect it with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol. Nowadays, most people test the temperature by holding the thermometer under the armpit. For young or unconscious children, the rectal temperature can be measured.

When measuring the temperature under the armpit, wipe off the sweat in the armpit first, then place the end of the thermometer with the mercury column under the armpit and clamp it, then take it out after 5 minutes. When measuring rectal temperature, first apply some oil on the round tip of the rectal thermometer for lubrication, then slowly insert it into the anus to a depth of about 2 cm, and remove it after 3 minutes. When measuring rectal temperature, hold the thermometer with your hand to prevent the child from breaking the thermometer and injuring the anus.

The above is about whether it is a fever if the body temperature remains at 37 degrees. Generally, it is not considered a fever, so there is no need to worry. It is just a fever caused by external factors. However, it depends on the physical fitness of the person. Therefore, if you are weak, it is recommended to see a doctor, but there will not be any big problems, so don’t worry.
