Does gastric bleeding hurt?

Gastric bleeding is what doctors call gastrointestinal bleeding. It is a relatively common and serious disease in clinical practice. The reason why there are some troublesome problems in treatment is that there are many reasons that lead to gastric bleeding, including external factors and the patient's own factors. The common symptom of gastric bleeding is vomiting blood, and some patients will have melena. Then someone will definitely ask, is it painful to have gastric bleeding?

Sometimes people don't feel any pain when they have gastric bleeding. It depends on whether there are ulcers on the surface of your stomach wall. If the situation is serious, you will vomit blood. Sometimes there will be a dull pain, and most people will treat it as indigestion and not pay attention to it. In fact, there may be ulcers or even inflammation. If you don’t seek medical treatment in time, it can easily cause gastritis or even stomach cancer. Of course, this is the worst case scenario.

Conventional treatment of gastric bleeding:

① The patient should lie in a supine position and 10 mg of diazepam can be injected intramuscularly if the patient is restless.

② Those who vomit blood should fast, while those who have simple black stools can eat liquid food.

③ Those with serious conditions should receive oxygen.

④ Place a gastric tube to aspirate the blood in the stomach, understand the bleeding situation, and infuse drugs.

⑤ Strengthen care to prevent vomitus from being inhaled into the respiratory tract and causing pneumonia or suffocation.

General treatment methods:

The diagnosis of acute gastric bleeding is mainly based on acute massive hematemesis and black stools. Generally, the bleeding does not exceed 500 ml, and most of the cases are vomiting blood, but some cases are bloody stool. The patient feels nauseous before vomiting blood, feels the urge to defecate before having bloody stools, and has black eyes, panic attacks, and even fainting after defecation. The patient looks pale, is thirsty, has a rapid and weak pulse, and has low blood pressure. Patients with ulcer disease often experience regular upper abdominal pain, which can be relieved by alkaline drugs.

Most patients with gastric bleeding do not need to be hospitalized for surgery. They just need to go to the hospital to stop the bleeding and return home to recuperate on the same day. Patients with acute gastric bleeding can also take non-surgical treatments, such as blood transfusion or infusion, etc. Patients with milder conditions can take some hemostatic drugs.
