5 black hours of air conditioning poisoning

Many drivers don’t know that there are 5 “black times” when it is not suitable to turn on the air conditioner! The reason why it is called “black time”, the blogger found out, is that if the air conditioner is turned on during this period of time, not only will the cooling effect be unsatisfactory, it may even cause damage to the vehicle. Let’s take a look.

1. Park your car and turn on the air conditioner to rest

In order to relieve fatigue or wait for someone, some people park their cars on the side of the road, close the doors and windows, turn on the air conditioner, and "enjoy" the comfort brought by the coolness. What's worse, some people simply turn on the air conditioner and fall asleep on the car seat. In fact, this practice is very dangerous. Auto repair experts said that when a car's engine is working, if the gasoline in the cylinder is not completely burned, high concentrations of carbon monoxide will be produced.

When a car is driving, the concentration of carbon monoxide in the car is very low because the air is convected through the air-conditioning equipment. However, when the car is stopped and the air conditioner continues to be on, and the doors and windows are closed, the air inside the car cannot circulate. If the carbon monoxide emitted by the engine leaks into the car, it will gradually accumulate and increase its concentration, causing poisoning or even death.

Some car owners say, if I turn on the air conditioner and open the windows for fresh air at the same time, I will be safe, right? The answer is no. If you park your car in a garage and take a nap with the air conditioner on, it is very likely to be dangerous even with the windows open, because the garage is actually a relatively sealed place, and it is possible for carbon monoxide concentration to be too high and cause poisoning.

Tip: Car owners are advised to check the engine hood regularly for leaks. When exhaust gas leaks are found in the car, it is not advisable to turn on the air conditioner, let alone sleep in the car with the air conditioner on, to avoid danger.

2. Smoking in the car with the air conditioner on

Some people turn on the air conditioner and light a cigarette when they park their car to rest or wait for someone in the car, which seems to be very refreshing. But doing so is harmful to your health. The reason is simple. Because the doors and windows are closed, the smoke cannot be discharged all at once, which will naturally irritate your eyes and respiratory system. But if you are addicted to smoking and you will feel very uncomfortable if you don't smoke, then here is a little suggestion for you: adjust the air conditioning ventilation control to the "external circulation" position. At this time, the smoke in the car can be discharged smoothly outside the car.

Tip: Turning on the air conditioner while parking is harmful in itself, and if you smoke at the same time, it would be a mistake on top of a mistake, so you'd better quit. If you can't help but have to smoke, remember to adjust the air conditioning ventilation control to the "external circulation" position and open the car window a little.

3. Choose the air conditioning temperature at will

Some people turn the temperature down to a very low level to keep cool, and they seem to feel very comfortable. However, by doing so, the body's endocrine system may not be able to adjust properly, making it easy to get diseases such as arthritis, periarthritis of the shoulder, colds, etc. When the indoor temperature is controlled too low, such as below 20℃, it will cause a variety of discomforts, such as lower limb pain, general fatigue and chills, headache, sore throat, abdominal pain, back pain, limb neuralgia, and even symptoms such as crooked mouth and eyes in severe cases. If there are elderly people or children in the car, the temperature should be set at 27℃.

Tip: Under normal circumstances, the temperature inside the car should be 5℃-6℃ different from the outside temperature, so it is best to check the outdoor temperature when adjusting the temperature.

4. The air conditioner is always on low setting

When turning on the air conditioner in the car, most people will not turn it to the highest setting, thinking that doing so will waste fuel and the fan noise is too loud and annoying. Of course, this idea is not wrong, but if you always do not drive at the highest gear, you will get sick. When the air conditioner is in use, it will absorb a lot of dust and form dirt. After a long time, it will become moldy and then be released into the car through the air conditioner. It is easy to inhale it into the body in the car. Wouldn't this make you sick? Therefore, the air conditioner should be turned to the maximum speed regularly, and the dirt in the air conditioner should be blown out with strong wind force.

Tip: Every once in a while, turn the air conditioner to the highest setting and blow it for half an hour to effectively prevent dust accumulation.

5. Turn on the air conditioner as soon as you enter the car

It's hot outside and even hotter inside the car. As soon as you sit in the car, a wave of heat hits you and it's unbearable. Your first reaction may be to turn on the air conditioner, hoping that the cool breeze will drive away the heat wave - you are wrong again. This not only has a poor cooling effect, but also increases the pressure on the engine during initial operation.

Tip: Although the car is very hot, you still have to be patient. After getting in the car, open all the windows first, start the air-conditioning external circulation system, and expel all the hot air. After the temperature in the car drops, close the windows, turn on the air-conditioning again, and adjust it to a suitable temperature.
