What's wrong with just farting but no poop

Everyone's gastrointestinal diseases are different. Some patients have more gas in their stomachs, so they are prone to farting. The gastrointestinal disease of the patient can be judged based on the situation of farting. Some people's farts are loud but not smelly, which is caused by excessive gas. Some people's farts are very smelly, which shows that the patient's digestive function is not good. So what's the matter with farting but no defecation?

The human body's defecation is determined by the defecation reflex arc. When the gas or feces produced by the human intestine reaches the rectum, it will accumulate in the rectum, causing the rectum to gradually expand. When the rectum expands to a certain extent, the urge to defecate will occur. The nerve impulse of the urge to defecate is transmitted to the brain, and the brain will send a signal for defecation. At this time, the anal sphincter will relax, the abdomen will exert force, and the stool will be discharged. If the thing that expands the rectum is gas, then the gas will be expelled, which is commonly known as farting. If the contents that distended the rectum are stool, stool will be expelled. So it’s okay if you fart but don’t poop, don’t worry. If you feel any other discomfort, please go to the hospital for treatment.

Causes of frequent farting:

1. Problems with eating: Eating too fast or chatting while eating will cause you to swallow a lot of air and fart a lot. Eating too much gas-producing food, such as beans, kale, cooked cabbage, eggs, oranges, tomatoes, strawberries, milk and soy products, can cause frequent farts.

2. Poor stomach and intestines: People with poor stomach and intestines, or weak stomach and intestines, also fart frequently. They usually have stomach diseases such as indigestion, gastritis, and peptic ulcer.

3. Constipation: Generally speaking, not having a bowel movement for more than three days or having difficulty defecating are considered constipation. When you are constipated, feces accumulate in the intestines. Feces are made up of bacteria. The fermentation of bacteria will produce a lot of gas, which will naturally cause you to fart.

4. Irritable bowel syndrome: This disease is one of the common causes of frequent flatulence, and it is also accompanied by symptoms such as abdominal pain, bloating, heartburn, back pain, weakness, fatigue, and palpitations.

5. Diabetes: If diabetics take metformin frequently, it will cause bloating and frequent farts. On the other hand, long-term development of diabetes can lead to neurological complications, such as gastrointestinal dysfunction. Irregular gastrointestinal motility can cause bloating, which in turn leads to frequent farts.
