What are the main treatments for liver cancer? Surgery is the first choice for liver cancer treatment

The treatment of liver cancer is a problem that many patients are very concerned about, because there are many patients with this disease. If everyone does not pay attention to the treatment of the disease, it will affect the effect of the treatment. With the development of medical technology, there are more and more treatment methods for liver cancer, and patients should also find a method that suits them.

At present, the treatment methods of liver cancer can be roughly divided into two categories, namely surgical treatment and non-surgical treatment. Surgical treatment mainly includes liver resection and liver transplantation. Generally speaking, surgical treatment has a better effect. For example, after radical surgical resection, the 5-year survival rate of liver cancer patients can reach about 50%-60%; for patients who meet the criteria for liver transplantation, the 5-year survival rate after liver transplantation can reach about 70%. Non-surgical treatments include percutaneous local ablation therapy, hepatic artery chemoembolization, radiotherapy, biological therapy, etc. For local ablation treatment of small liver cancer, the 5-year survival rate after surgery is similar to that of surgical resection, while the 3-year survival rate of hepatic artery chemoembolization treatment of liver cancer that cannot be surgically removed is about 30%.

There are many treatments for liver cancer, and each treatment has its own indications, which means that only the method that suits the patient's condition is the best method. For example, surgical resection is more effective, but not all patients are suitable for surgical resection. They need to have better heart and lung function, and the liver tumor is relatively localized and has no metastasis. If these conditions are not met and surgical resection is performed reluctantly, good treatment results cannot be achieved. Similarly, local ablation is effective in treating small liver cancers, but for larger liver cancers, local ablation cannot completely kill the tumor and the effect will not be good. Therefore, the appropriate treatment method should be selected based on the patient's condition, liver function status, and tumor condition.

It is not scary to get sick. Patients should effectively control the disease through active treatment. While treating the disease, patients should also pay more attention to their living habits and take good care of themselves so that they can control the disease faster.
