Never take medicine when you are angry

Never take medicine when you are angry

Rainy and snowy weather has brought great inconvenience to people's travel. The number of patients visiting major hospitals due to slippery road falls has continued to increase, mainly wrist and ankle injuries. To this end, I would like to remind you of the following points:

First, try to reduce going out and walk slowly.

The elderly should use crutches when going out. It is best to wear snow-resistant cotton shoes, hiking shoes or sneakers, and tie a cotton strip on the soles to prevent falls.

Second, once your foot slips and you feel you are about to fall, you must have the correct falling posture.

That is, quickly throw away the objects in your hands and clasp your hands in front of your chest to prevent fractures caused by subconsciously supporting yourself on the ground with your hands. At the same time, land on your buttocks and fall to the left or right.

Third, after falling, first stretch your legs slightly to determine if there is any pain, and check for local tenderness, swelling, bruising, etc.

When you sprain your ankle, the first thing you need to do is to brake and use soft objects to raise your calf to promote venous return and dissipate blood stasis. People with some first aid knowledge can wrap ice cubes in gloves or scarves and apply them to the sprained area, and go to the hospital for an X-ray to determine whether there are any fractures.

Fourth, if deformity, false joint movement (like the movement of a broken branch swinging freely), bone crepitus or bone friction feeling are found, it is likely that a fracture is present.

Avoid stimulation of the fracture site and avoid secondary injury caused by external impact, and then immediately fix it with a splint, book or wooden board.

Fifth, if you just sprained your waist, the most important thing is to brake, sleep on a hard bed, and wear a wide belt.

It is important not to stop activities during the acute stage of sprain, otherwise the soft tissue will not be repaired, the fresh sprain will become an old injury, the local pain will persist, the swelling will not subside, and in severe cases it may develop into lumbar disc herniation.

In the outpatient clinic, there are often patients who fell half a year ago but did not go to the hospital for diagnosis and treatment in time, and later developed bone necrosis. So after a fall, it is best to go to the hospital for an X-ray to rule out fractures.

This kind of scene is often seen in TV dramas: the old man suddenly becomes emotional, covers his chest with his hands, and hurriedly grabs a handful of medicine and stuffs it into his mouth. There are many elderly people who follow this example in life. Little do people know that a good or bad mood can also interfere with the effectiveness of the medicine, especially when taking medicine right after getting angry, the effectiveness of the medicine will be greatly reduced.

This is because negative emotions such as anger, irritability, and depression can affect the endocrine and immune system functions, weaken the body's ability to resist disease, affect the efficacy of drugs, and prolong treatment time. When people are in a bad mood, their immune function decreases.

Appetite will also decrease, and blood sugar will become difficult to control.

Clinically, it has been found that once the mood of some elderly hypertensive patients improves and they take their medication on time, the efficacy of the medication can be well exerted and their blood pressure can be lowered.

From a psychological point of view, good emotions also have a suggestive effect, and even taking smaller doses of drugs can achieve better therapeutic effects. Therefore, it is important to maintain a positive attitude when taking medication. If you have just been angry or too emotional

If you are excited, unless there is another emergency, you should try to calm down and take the medicine after you are calm. In addition, when you are emotionally agitated and need to take emergency medication, be careful not to increase the dosage without authorization.
