What is the normal amount of urine output

We all know that we need to urinate every day, but many people don’t know how much urine we urinate. In fact, the amount of urine mainly depends on the amount of water the body takes in and the amount of water excreted through other channels. Let us now learn about the normal daily urine output of the human body. Knowing more about it will be good for our body.

The normal daily urine output of a person is about 1000-2000 ml, with an average of about 1500 ml. Because a normal person has about 35-50 grams of metabolic products and salts that need to be excreted from the body in the form of urine through the kidneys every day, and the minimum amount of water required to dissolve these solid substances is about 500 ml, so each person must excrete at least 500 ml of urine every day. Therefore, according to medical regulations, when a person's daily (24 hours) urine volume exceeds 2500 ml, it is considered polyuria; when the daily urine volume is less than 500 ml, it is considered oliguria; when the daily urine volume is less than 100 ml, it is considered anuria.

Excessive urination will cause the loss of substances such as water and electrolytes in the body, leading to dehydration and electrolyte imbalance. On the contrary, if you urinate too little, toxins in the body cannot be excreted, which will cause systemic metabolic disorders and even be life-threatening in severe cases. Therefore, it is very important to maintain normal urine volume.

There are large individual differences in urine volume among children. Under normal circumstances, the daily urine output of infants is 400~500 ml, that of toddlers is 500~600 ml, that of preschool children is 600~800 ml, and that of school-age children is 800~1400 ml.

The normal urine volume of a normal person is 1000-2000 ml, with an average of 1500 ml.

Polyuria: urine volume more than 2500 in 24 hours. Oliguria: urine volume less than 400 in 24 hours, less than 17 ml per hour.

Anuria: less than 100 urine drops in 24 hours.

Diabetes insipidus: Urine output reaches more than 5 liters in 24 hours.

The intake should be balanced relative to the output, otherwise there will be electrolyte imbalance.

The above briefly introduces the normal daily urine output of the human body. From the above introduction, we can see that people at different stages have different standards of urine output, and we need to pay attention to the distinction.
