Feeling sleepy during the day? Be careful of these seven diseases that are about to strike

If you sleep quite a lot at night but always feel sleepy “fishing” during the day, you may be alert to the signs of certain diseases, such as anemia, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, hypothyroidism, diabetes, etc. Go to the hospital as soon as possible to find out the condition and receive symptomatic treatment.

1. Anemia

Anemia can occur at any age. Fatigue and drowsiness are the most common early symptoms. It may also be accompanied by dizziness, headache, tinnitus, blurred vision, inattention, pale complexion, etc. If drowsiness is accompanied by symptoms such as pale complexion, it is best to go to the hospital for a routine blood test or four items of anemia to confirm the diagnosis as soon as possible so as to receive symptomatic treatment.

2. Cerebrovascular Disease

Once the cerebral blood vessels of middle-aged and elderly people harden, resulting in insufficient blood supply to the brain, or even blood clots forming and causing cerebral infarction, it will cause hypoxia and ischemia in the brain tissue. Over time, it will affect the normal functioning of the brain and cause symptoms such as frequent drowsiness. Such patients may also experience symptoms such as dizziness, headache, limb numbness and weakness.

3. Heart disease

The brain is the "headquarters" of the human body, controlling all organs of the human body at all times. Brain tissue is most sensitive to ischemia and hypoxia. Under normal circumstances, about 1/5 of the blood pumped by the heart

Supply to brain tissue, therefore, brain metabolism is greatly affected by the heart's contractile function. When middle-aged and elderly people suffer from heart disease, the amount of blood pumped out by the heart will decrease, and the brain will suffer from ischemia and hypoxia, causing symptoms such as lack of energy and drowsiness. If you also have symptoms such as palpitations, shortness of breath, chest tightness, dizziness, etc., especially if the symptoms worsen after activity and improve after rest, it is best to check your heart, such as by doing an electrocardiogram, cardiac color ultrasound, etc.

Sleep apnea syndrome

This disease is more common in middle-aged and elderly men who are obese and have bad habits such as alcoholism. Snoring is one of the most typical symptoms of this type of patients. Due to certain reasons, the upper respiratory tract is blocked and sleep apnea occurs, which leads to hypoxia of the body. The body's organs cannot be repaired well, and symptoms of fatigue and drowsiness are easy to appear during the day. If the above problems occur, it is best to observe whether there is sleep apnea and treat it if necessary.

5. Hypothyroidism

The disease is relatively hidden and is mainly caused by malfunction of the thyroid gland, leading to abnormal thyroid hormones. In addition to symptoms such as drowsiness and sleepiness, there may also be laziness, unwillingness to move, limb swelling, memory and intelligence impairment, and slow reaction. If you feel lazy and tired, accompanied by symptoms such as forgetfulness and emotional instability, you should suspect whether you have hypothyroidism.

6. Liver Disease

Fatigue and loss of appetite are one of the main clinical characteristics of liver disease. If you feel tired and sleepy and have symptoms such as yellow and rough skin, nausea, aversion to greasy food, and bloating after eating, go to the hospital in time for virological tests, liver function tests, and liver color ultrasound to rule out liver disease.

7. Diabetes

Some patients with type 2 diabetes have initial symptoms such as general fatigue, drowsiness, and mental fatigue. This is due to the inability of glucose to be completely oxidized, coupled with tissue dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, etc. Therefore, obese people and high-risk groups with a family history of diabetes should check their blood sugar regularly to detect and treat diabetes early.
